Gloucester’s city centre entertainment venue, the Guildhall – which has screened many blockbuster films and hosted performances from well-known acts over the years – will soon be focussing more of its attention on local talent.
The ‘Filmmaker Forum’ will commence on Saturday, 19th March, and Gloucester Guildhall intend to hold many more or these events throughout the year. The forum will allow the opportunity for budding local producers to showcase their work, and take part in a question and answer session to help extract information from those who are more established in the industry.
Chloe Homer, film programmer at the Gloucester Guildhall and one of the people at the forefront of the scheme, has said: “We’re really keen to support all kinds of creativity within the city. It’s relatively easy for a local band to find a platform to showcase their talents, but is a lot harder for film-makers.
“We’re in a great position to be able to support them and help their films find an audience – who knows, the next great film director could come from Gloucester.”
With film-making courses running at Gloucestershire College and Gloucestershire University, there is certainly the possibility of drumming up lots of interest for the events.
Cheltenham company, Pinpoint Films, will kick off proceedings with their production, ‘Shopping Channels’ – a feature film lasting 1 hour, 40 minutes. Providing you are 18 years of age or older, you will be able to attend the event, which starts at 7pm.
