Council supports flood scheme for more affordable insurance by Kate | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/Gloucestershire County Council is supporting a government scheme which will help owners with property at risk of flooding to buy insurance at reasonable and affordable prices.
The government has agreed a scheme called ‘Flood Re’ with the Association of British Insurers.
Flood Re aims to bring more affordable insurance to those who need it.
On Saturday 17th September representatives from Flood Re will be holding a question and answer session with local residents at Gloucester Guildhall.
The session begins at 2pm and experts will be on hand to give local people details about how to benefit from the scheme, and answer any questions.
Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways and flood said, “Everyone should be able to access affordable home insurance, even if you live in a flood-risk area. I’d like to encourage anyone interested to go along and find out how you might benefit from a new insurance policy backed by Flood Re before the winter season.”
Cllr Phillip Awford, Gloucestershire County Council’s representative on the English, Severn and Wye Regional Flood and Coastal Committee said, “This looks like a good scheme and I’m hopeful that it will benefit local people who’ve been affected by flooding.”
