Four brand new eco space classrooms are being built at Dinglewell Junior School, in Gloucester.

Gloucestershire County Council is investing £750k into the Hucclecote school for four new classrooms with toilets. These new look rooms will replace the existing classrooms that are no longer fit for purpose.

Unlike the current classrooms that are spread out over the schools grounds, these new ones will be joined together in a row and based just opposite the main school block. This will allow a much better flow and create a more enjoyable teaching atmosphere.

The new look classrooms will be the same ‘eco pod’ design that was built for English Bicknor primary school, which have been a great success.

Cllr David Brown, county councillor for Barnwood and Hucclecote, said: “It is good news that Dinglewell Junior School is getting this makeover, and after pushing for these improvements I am delighted to see that funding has been bought forward. The current classrooms are very tired, I think that these new and innovative rooms will  be great for local families and will bring a breath of fresh air to these students, teachers and the wider community.”

Cllr Paul McLain, cabinet member for children and young people at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “These new look class rooms will be complete by the end of the year.

“The block is being built in a new area of the school grounds so will cause very little disruption throughout the school day, but once complete will have a huge impact on the environment for both the students and teachers.”
