Manchester Attack: Book of condolence opened in Gloucester

After the tragic events that took place in Manchester on Monday night, Gloucester City Council is inviting members of the public to sign a public book of condolence.

This morning Gloucester City Council placed a public book of condolences in the reception of the city council offices in Herbert Warehouse at Gloucester Docks.

Members of the public are invited to sign the book, which will be available during office hours until 5pm on Friday.

Mayor of Gloucester, Cllr Steve Morgan, said: “I can’t express the sadness I feel for Manchester. This book of condolence is a way of bringing our community together and showing united support for Manchester.

“The strength that Manchester has shown is admirable and support for them has been world wide. Everyone has come together to stand united and overcome terror.”

Speaking about the book of condolences, Cllr Jennie Watkins, cabinet member for communities at Gloucester City Council said: “We wanted to give the public a chance to offer their condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of Monday’s terrible attack.

“Gloucester is a great city, full of diversity and communities that support eachother. In times of darkness such as these I know we will all pull together and unite against this hate. It won’t be tolerated and we won’t be intimidated.”
