New kids on the block bringing a twist to casual dining on Eastgate Street.
The Vine Bar & Kitchen are a gin & cocktail bar, offering something a little extra. Drinks, casual dining, afternoon teas and chic function rooms.
We met up with Angela Lovell of The Vine Bar & Kitchen to discover more about the business.
How it all began…
Angela’s current aesthetic business was looking to grow & develop. Working alongside similar businesses in the industry, her idea was to open a bigger, more central treatment centre to accomodate a complete range of beauty, cosmetic & aesthetic professionals.
As well as this, Angela and her team wanted to offer a more premium experience to clients, adding a dash of prosecco and somewhere to relax pre & post treatment.
On the search for a new premise, Angela came across a few historic buildings in the city that caught her eye. With a huge passion for Gloucester and derelict buildings, 94 Eastgate Street was the perfect match.
Unloved for many years, she took it upon herself to give this beautiful 17th Century, grade II listed building a new lease of life.
“As residents of Gloucester, it’s our duty to protect & treasure our local heritage. To take it upon ourselves to regenerate and restore the few historic sites we have left in our wonderful city.”
The 3 story building has numerous rooms, spacious, bright and cosy. Once the transformation had begun, it became apparent they had plenty of extra space for another business. It was the perfect space for the premium treatment experience, but hey, why not just turn it into its own bar & kitchen?
From this, The Vine Bar & Kitchen was born.
When entering, you’ll be welcomed by 1920s ‘Gatsby’ style decor. Candlelit seating, exposed brickwork and golden hue lighting creating a warm & cosy atmosphere.
The Bar is stocked with a range of gins, liqueurs, spirits, soft drinks as well as beers on draught. Nestled towards the back of the bar, you’ll find the Snug, another picture-perfect setting to enjoy food & drink.
On the first floor, there is an additional seating area featuring beautiful bay windows, greenery and laid back music.
On the third floor is another hidden gem, some might say an ‘Alice in Wonderland’ inspired tea room. Light shades of pink & turquoise, vintage cake trays, crockery and floral finishes.
