Highlights for the Month

  • 1stCalled to assist with a first aid incident, male had hit his face into the pavement when he rode of a kerb. Ambulance called and took over on their arrival.
  • Welfare incident, a homeless individual had arrived that morning, he was street linked to P3 and given information on where to obtain food and clothing with a list of numbers to assist him welfare wise.
  • Monitored and deterred known shoplifting individuals around the town.
  • 2ndCalled to assist with the removal of a young couple who were getting very aggressive and refusing to leave a store. CPOs arrived and took the couple to one side and went through the grievance process, after calming down the couple they left store.
  • Called to confirm the identity of a shoplifter, this was done, and all the details have been added to DISC.
  • 3rd A known shoplifter who had struck very early morning was arrested for the shoplifting offences and for breach of her CBO.
  • Two other cases of shoplifting dealt with during the day, all items retrieved, and all details added to DISC.
  • Assistance given to a female having issues with an ATM which had taken her money back into the system. All sorted and no further issues.
  • 4th Both CPO teams on today, also a visit from the BID Manager and a young lady who is doing a project for university.
  • The Barton and Tredworth team visited all the open stores, barber shops, nail bars and hairdressers that were open, they spoke with staff members and customers, also engaged with some of the street drinkers in that area.
  • The city teams assisted PCSO with removing the street drinkers from the usual public areas.
  • The University lady doing the project also went out with the city team to see what the CPOs day to day role entails.
  • 5th Spoke to a homeless individual who had left a lot of waste food items and rubbish where he is camped out, he cleaned up the rubbish following conversations.
  • Dealt with several cases of shoplifting and managed to deter a couple of other individuals from attempting to shoplift. All details have been added to DISC.
  • 6th The Barton team reported an area where uncapped needles were found, this has been passed to the local cleaning team for disposal. Area made safe by CPOs.
  • Drinkers by the salvation army were moved on due to the noise level and being anti-social.
  • All open stores were visited by the team, engaging with shop keepers and members of the public.
  • Two known street drinkers were found in different locations in the city covered in blood. Spoke to them both to find out what had happened. CCTV informed and they monitored both.
  • Removed known individuals who have store bans from city safe stores. Added the details to DISC.
  • 7th Several cases of shoplifting dealt with, all goods retrieved and returned to store along with details which will be added to DISC.
  • First aid incident required assistance, a female had tripped on a cobbled stone, she had hit her face and had hurt her wrist. An ambulance was called, CPOs stayed until they had arrived to take over.
  • Welfare incident with a young female who needed medical attention, spoke with police and they were aware of this individual, they arrived and took over the incident.
  • 8th Dealt with a homeless group who refused to move on, they have also received numerous offers of accommodation, but insist on sitting in public spaces begging as they make more money.
  • Welfare incident, a female was having issues with an ex- husband who has a civil injunction against him. Police informed and she rang it through on 101. Her son in law was called and he picked her up. CPOs stayed with female until son collected.
  • 9th Two new fly tipping sites located and reported to correct agencies.
  • Called to attend a shoplifting in progress, the individual was removed from the store and all details were added to DISC for the offence and breaching a store ban.
  • 10th Called to remove a small group of drinkers in St John Lane who were making a considerable amount of noise.
  • Called to attend to a male with a young girl in a dressing gown and Pyjamas, these two were begging in the car park. Police were called as there were concerns for the girl.
  • Attended to an incident of a male fast asleep on the grass in St Lucy’s Garden in the rain. The individual was drunk but known to CPOs, fellow drinkers were looking out for his welfare.
  • 11th Large fragrance thefts, all persons involved were identified via the stores CCTV system, police informed, and all details added to DISC.
  • Several welfare cases dealt with during the day by the city team, each person was given relevant information and correct agencies were informed.
  • The Barton team also had a welfare issue to sort out, all information passed to correct agencies.
  • The open stores were all visited, and individuals engaged both inside and out of the stores.
  • 12th Checked on all the trouble spots first thing and removed needles from car park areas.
  • Street drinkers removed from Southgate Street, met with some resistance but they all moved away from the area following engagement.
  • Assisted the PCSOs during a stop, a male had tried to shoplift some knives, but also found with a sharp tool on him so he was arrested.
  • The regular homeless pair causing issues to members of the public and businesses, relevant agencies informed. Police were called due to the behaviour of one of the individuals.
  • 13thWelfare checks made on the homeless people in town, no issues.
  • A very drunk female complaining that she had lost her phone, she was guided towards Bearlands Police Station as she would not listen to any advice given.
  • The Barton and Tredworth team checked all Barber shops, Nail bars and Hairdresser today, no major issues. Handed out some advice and PPE equipment.
  • 14th Having issues with a pair of “Homeless individuals” who were refusing to tidy all their bedding and personal items, one even required medical attention having cut himself whilst in a temper.
  • A shoplifter was removed from a store, having been caught stealing the day before, he was followed by CCTV and seen to enter another store, CPOs just missed him and he managed to enter a dwelling on Eastgate street, PCSOs informed.
  • A Group of females were removed from one of the public houses and were upset because they claimed they had been victimised. CPOs spoke with them, and they moved onto the Quays.
  • 15th Dealt with an individual who has been causing a lot of issues around the town, he was spoken to and advised to go home, or the police will be dealing with him, he left the area.
  • Called to identify an individual who was shoplifting earlier in the day. All details have been added to DISC.
  • 16thLarge group of street drinkers at Long Smiths car park, some of whom were fighting, upon arrival of the CPOs the fight broke up and all were dispersed from the area. CCTV informed of the situation.
  • Several incidents of shoplifting dealt with during the day all items returned to store. All details added to DISC. Police informed.
  • 17th All available CPOs attended a council Covid 19 update meeting, this was to cover all changes to the planned easing of lockdown – Step 3.
  • Monitor known shoplifting individuals around the city, deterring them from City safe stores.
  • Teenagers found drinking in Long Smiths car park, they were reported to be hanging over the edge of the top floor so were removed from this area. No further issues with this group.
  • 18th The two teams were out again today, the Barton team passed over a known shoplifter to CCTV to monitor.
  • Assisted in the moving of equipment and Covid safety messaging to locations around the city ready for forthcoming events.
  • Assisted with an incident where a young couple had been threatened by a very aggressive male, managed to get a description of the male circulated, which led to his arrest.
  • 19th. One of the older homeless people came back to Gloucester to personally thank the CPOs for all the help he had been given during his time in Town as he has been engaging with support.
  • First aid incident dealt with, an older male had slipped over in a store, he was winded and banged his arm. A bystander had called an ambulance and reassurance provided until paramedics attended to check him over.
  • 20th An aggressive beggar was removed from the area; he was being very drunk and aggressive to passers-by.
  • A couple of teenaged girls were stopped from stealing items, spoken to about their behaviour, after which their mother got very verbal with the CPOs and store staff. Police were called and all picked up.
  • Welfare incident, information and assistance given to a new male in town with concerns for welfare were disclosed. All agencies informed.
  • 21st Deterred a known shoplifter from entering city safe stores and passed him onto CCTV who monitored him until he left the city area.
  • A welfare case was dealt with by the team with the male being taken to the Cavern for a qualified staff member to assist.
  • An aggressive male with a dog having a shouting match with people inside of the transport hub. This male was talked down and calmed him enough for him to leave the area.
  • 22nd Assisted in dealing with several shoplifting incidents. All information added to the DISC system.
  • Called to deal with a drunk male who was becoming aggressive with people around him, as we have dealings with this male before he was calmed down and went home.
  • 23rd Assisted in three arrests today, one for criminal damage and two shoplifting offences.  All details have been added to DISC.
  • Broke up an argument between two individuals, the issues were sorted out and one of the persons removed from the area.
  • Presence provided for the Palestinian march through the city, march went of peacefully and some masks handed out.
  • 24th Removed a large group of street drinkers out of a public area, they were causing too much noise and other anti – social behaviour.
  • Two separate cases of shoplifting and aggressive attitude towards staff when they were asked to leave the store, all details have been added to DISC.
  • Welfare case of a person self-harming, it was a homeless person who had been asked to put some of his belongings away and he had a tantrum. This male had been offered numerus times for help, which have all be turned down. Police were called and the incident was taken over by them.
  • 25th The two teams were out today with a mixture of tasks, the city teams were dealing with shoplifters on two occasions, with both sets of details being added to DISC and both crimed by police.
  • Statements written and collected by the police for ongoing investigations.
  • The Barton and Tredworth team had been visiting all open stores in and around both areas, but also engaging with the wider public, street drinkers and store owners. They also carried out tasks set by the city safe manager.
  • 26th Two shoplifting incident dealt with, two were arrested immediately, identification was confirmed, the second has been identified but police will investigate further.
  • Informal meeting with the council, this is due to some changes with the people we need to work with on different projects within the city.
  • 27th The Barton team were out again today, engaging with the public and stores within those areas, Covid-19 PPE items were re-supplied to those who requested assistance.
  • The barber shops and hairdressers were visited today along with the nail bars, no issues found.
  • The city team had a varied day, one very drunk male removed from a stagecoach bus, he had fallen asleep on the floor and refused to move. He was encouraged and convinced that he needed to get off the bus.
  • Street drinkers were removed from the centre of town for having alcohol open and drinking in the PSPO area.
  • Two welfare incidents dealing with two homeless individuals both begging, both were removed from those areas.
  • A young male was detained for police reference an animal cruelty incident; police took over on arrival.
  • 28th Called to assist in a store as a member of staff had been threatened, a male was asked to put a mask on when coming into the store, he attempted to strike the female member of staff and walked out. This male was caught on CCTV in store. The incident was reported to police immediately.
  • Two separate groups of people were removed from stores on suspicion of shoplifting and being banned from the store.
  • 29th During the day CPOs assisted with dealing with shoplifting incidents, two of which the offenders were arrested. There were also three cases of people begging quite aggressively in the city, they were removed from the areas.
  • Two separate incidents of welfare issues, one requiring an ambulance due to the person being unwell. The other was walked home by the CPO to place of safety.
  • Engaged and persuaded a group of young lads to take and ride their bikes out of town as they were riding in and out of the public. No further issue with these lads.
  • 30th Welfare incident regarding a young lad that had left his accommodation due to others taking it over, police were called to speak with this young man as there were safety concerns.
  • Removed a drunk male from one of the pubs in town. This male went onto commit other problems around the town, police became involved, and he was arrested.
  • 31st Met up with and had a walk around the BID area with MP Richard Graham, Jennie Watkins and the new incoming PCC Chris Nelson, Justin Hudson GCC and City Safe Manager.
  • Spoke with and moved on some males selling cheap perfume and fragrance, as they had no peddler licence, they were asked to leave the area. CCTV informed and they were monitored out of the city.
