Fantasy and Gothic giftware shop 14 Gifts has moved to larger premises in Gloucester. The independent shop, owned by husband-and-wife George and Lizzie, started out on a stall five years ago before moving to a shop in the Eastgate Shopping Centre. This week, they moved to their new bigger unit on Westgate Street.
14 Gifts specialises in providing Fantasy and Gothic giftware and other products for all your spiritual, well-being and collectible needs. The owners are proud of their multi-faith altar in the shop which is available to anyone who may want to go in and use it.
George and Lizzie have lived and studied various religions and practices including, Christianity (various sects), Islam (Sunni sect), Mormonism, Paganism (many different branches), Wicca, Hinduism, and Satanism (both atheistic and theistic).
George said, ‘From the study and practice of different religions came the concept of what has now become our life and business. As a result of our studies, we have also formed a ministry that aims to help people with their journey of Faith. People are under no obligation to buy anything if you use our altar. It is something that we always wanted to provide as a service for everyone to use. This is what makes our shop more than a shop, and we call it our Temple shop.’
At 14 Gifts, people are encouraged to be able to touch and feel the product that they may be considering purchasing. Products can also be purchased on the website or from social media.
The couple are excited about their expansion and say the secret to their success is loving what they do. George said, ‘We have diversified but we don’t go out of our theme. We work well with the other local shops here; perhaps we could call it the magical quarter! We welcome old and new customers with our slogan, ‘Come and enlighten yourself with The Dark.’
