The award-winning nautical festival, Gloucester Tall Ships, returns for 2022 on the 3rd June until the 5th June over The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend with a jam-packed schedule of family fun and entertainment.
The free-to-attend event, funded in partnership by Gloucester City Council, Canal & River Trust and Gloucester BID, attracts hundreds of thousands of people to the Gloucester Quays to watch in ‘oar’ as the tall ships sail into the docks.
Gloucester Tall Ships will boast tonnes of family-friendly entertainment from sand sculptures, a vintage fairground, flyboarders daredevil stunts and musicians bursting from every corner of Gloucester’s historical docks. Audiences will experience live battle reenactments and more over this three-day event on the water.
This year’s festival will introduce a Boarding Pass which can be purchased for £5, giving visitors access to board the visiting ships, meet their sailing teams and see beneath the decks at the living and working quarters. In addition you can purchase a Boarding Pass Plus for only £2.50 extra which gives you access to the National Waterways Museum, Gloucester right in the heart of Docks.

Anchored in the heart of the city at the Quays, Gloucester Tall Ships festival will feature market stalls on Llanthony Road, High Orchard Street and Orchard Square where you can discover Gloucester’s finest local food, drink, arts and crafts from artisan makers from local businesses and the South West.
Surrounding the historic Gloucester docks, there’s a wide choice of accommodation to make a visit to Gloucester Tall Ships Festival a memorable weekend. The National Waterways Museum. Gloucester provides the perfect backdrop where you can learn about the story of the docks and canal and find out more about Gloucester’s intriguing waterway history. The Museum is part of the Canal & River Trust, which is responsible for Gloucester Docks’ water space and the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. The Canal & River Trust will be offering boat trips and paddling on the water over the course of the Festival weekend. These can be pre-booked or booked on the day.
