Find all ten golden cycling related items hidden in Gloucester businesses in the run up to the Tour of Britain, and you could win a prize!

Gloucester Business Improvement District (BID) is launching its summer trail this Saturday 6 August. To take part, people can pick up a trail leaflet at any of the businesses involved – see below for list. To be in with the chance to win one of three £50 Gloucester Gift Cards, you must match up all the bike items to the businesses with a number. You’ll also need to find ten letters and unscramble to make a Tour of Britain finishing stage name. The closing date for the trail, and to get entries in, is on Monday 12th September 2022.

Gloucestershire will play a starring role when the Tour of Britain, the UK’s most prestigious cycle race, heads to the county next month on Friday 9th September. The 169km Tour of Britain route will head east from Tewkesbury into the Cotswolds, before heading south, then coming up through the Stroud district, and finishing by Gloucester Docks at approx. 3pm. It will be the sixth stage of the race, marking the first time that Gloucestershire will have provided the backdrop for a full day of the event.

With the start and finish locations separated by a little over 10 miles, fans will easily be able to attend both on race day, which will further add to the atmosphere at this free-to-watch sporting spectacle. Stage six’s route will head into the Cotswolds before approaching the finish at approx. 3pm by the historic docks.

Gloucestershire County Council’s commitment to supporting tourism and active travel also saw the Women’s Tour, the UK’s most prestigious women’s cycle race, visit the county on 8 June for a Tewkesbury to Gloucester stage. Team DSM sprint star Lorena Wiebes took the victory following a thrilling day of racing.

Keen cyclist and Gloucester BID Board member Toby Woolridge is behind most of the organisation for the Tour of Britain trail in the city. He said, ‘We wanted to do something to celebrate this prestigious event coming to the city and get people excited about it. By finding all the golden cycling related items, we are hoping it will get people talking about the event along with visiting some of our wealth of businesses in the city centre.’
