Shoppers can enjoy free parking on Thursdays at both the Kings Walk and Eastgate Shopping Centre car parks, in the run up to Christmas.

Gloucester City Council is behind the festive offer aimed at supporting the city centre businesses and retailers.

The two car parks have over 600 spaces between them, and the free all day parking on Thursdays will allow shoppers not to feel rushed and to enjoy late-night shopping too.

Residents are being encouraged to shop local this Christmas and support the huge range of independent businesses in the city offering great gifts, knowledge and expertise as well as enjoying the many restaurants, bars and cafes.

Councillor Hannah Norman, deputy leader and cabinet member for Performance and Resources at Gloucester City Council, said: “Our local retailers and independents are the lifeblood of our high street and we want to do all we can to support them. We hope that by helping shoppers with the cost of their parking we can make it a little easier for them to shop local and to get out and enjoy the city this Christmas.”

Shoppers are reminded to check car parking closing times. Cars should not be left overnight.
