Christmas revellers raised over £2,000 for local charity Young Gloucestershire last month, all whilst enjoying an evening singing Christmas carols, munching mince pies and sipping spiced mulled wine at the historic Blackfriars Priory, in Gloucester. Providing the accompanying music was the Forest of Dean Brass Band who ensured a merry, joyous and festive mood as they played along to a range of carols and Christmas songs.
This was the second such event, organised by local business HR Champions and the amount raised this time round more than doubled the last effort previously held in 2019. Plans for Christmas singalongs since then had to be shelved owing to Covid, so attendees were thrilled to have the opportunity to join in a traditional carol concert once again.
Money was raised though entrance fees and a raffle with some incredible prizes donated by HR Champions’ very generous clients.
Young Gloucestershire can now use this money to continue their amazing work. The charity offers emotional support to local young people, helping them to build vital life skills and find their own voice within their community.
HR Champions are already planning this year’s event, so look out for the opportunity to bring some Christmas cheer sometime early in December 2023 and of course, to raise even more money for a worthy cause.
Gloucester BID were pleased to have been able to support this event, for a very worthwhile city centre based charity and look forward to doing the same this year.
