Find a new career at the Friendship Cafe by | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/Gloucestershire County Council’s Adult Social Care recruitment team is attending the Community Open Day at the Friendship Cafe in Gloucester on Saturday 11 March.
The recruitment team will be at the event to showcase the huge variety of career opportunities available across Adult Social Care.
The event takes place from 10am until 3pm at the Friendship Cafe (Chequers Bridge Centre, Painswick Road, GL4 6PR). It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the roles and training opportunities available at the council.
Council colleagues will be on hand to chat to the community about the difference they make every day, helping to support local people of all ages with care and support needs.
Adult social care covers a wide range of activities to help people who are older or living with disability, to live independently and stay safe and well. It can include ‘personal care’ such as support for washing, dressing and getting out of bed in the morning, together with wider support to help people stay active and engaged in their communities. Support is provided in their own home, at day centres, or in nursing and care homes.
Reablement services help people to regain independence; providing aids and adaptations for their home alongside information and advice, as well as support for family carers.
There will be representatives attending from several teams who are keen to share what their team does and how you could become part of it, including:
- Learning Disability and Enablement
- Hospital Discharge and Assessment Team
- Safeguarding and Practice Development
- Day Centres
- Contact Centre
- Home First and Reablement
- Apprenticeships and Adult Education
- Proud to Care.
Benefits for colleagues include job security with a regular salary and competitive rates of pay, flexible working, paid holiday and membership of the local government pension scheme.
Everyone receives support to reach their aspirations and develop their full potential, and this is underpinned by a positive culture with vibrant colleague networks.
As well as learning about job roles and vacancies, job seekers will also be supported with application tips and advice.
There is no need to book, people can turn up on the day. Refreshments available include tea, coffee and a light lunch, and there is onsite parking.
There is an enclosed area especially for children with a bouncy castle and entertainment, to help keep them happy and occupied while parents talk to the team about the fantastic opportunities available.
Cllr Kathy Williams, cabinet member for adult social care at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “We want to share why we care. Most importantly we want to make a difference to the lives of people who live and work in Gloucestershire. Join us to make that difference happen.
“There are rewarding, varied and interesting roles available now supporting your local community. Please encourage anyone you know who is looking for a new job or a fresh challenge to come along.”
The county council is committed to creating an environment and culture that promotes equality, diversity and inclusion. It welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds, including those with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered.
