Mark Cummings will present his final show for BBC Radio Gloucestershire this week.

The presenter is leaving the corporation after presenting the breakfast for the last 18 years.

Mark will host his final breakfast show from the BBC’s London Road studio on Friday.

A series of major changes will be rolled out across the BBC Local Radio network which will see a large swave of local shows cut and replaced with regional and national programmes instead.

BBC Radio Gloucestershire will only air local based programmes between 6am and 2pm during the week and a small amount at the weekend.

Mark announced his decision to leave the BBC in May: “I decided not to apply for my job when put into a redundancy scenario, but rather take this opportunity to move into a completely different life and leave the party a couple of years earlier than planned.

“This unique relationship between listener and presenter, I feel, is something the BBC should invest in, should sing about from the rooftops as it’s a BBC service that no one else offers.

“I’ve got my greatest wish which was to choose to end my presenting career doing the show I love.”

David Smith will take over the breakfast show until the new look schedule is announced by the BBC.
