Gloucester is invited to ‘Go Gold’ this September to support Emily’s Gift.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month and 37 children are receiving cancer treatment on the Emily Kent Unit in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital presently. Hundreds are in remission & all of them with their families need psychological support, which is unavailable in Gloucestershire. It is provided in the other 6 children’s cancer units in the South West.
Emily’s Gift was founded by Julie Kent MBE to raise £500k in one year to fund a psychologist for 10 years on the EKU named after her daughter who died when she was 3 years old.
Gloucester Business Improvement District are working with Julie to help raise this much needed funding and are inviting the community of Gloucester to support it this September. This can be dressing up in Gold or Yellow one day, decorating your office, school or shop window. How about holding an event? Options could be an Abba Gold event, Golden Boot award or golden awards dished out for anything from good work, kindness & outrageous outfits! A hat is the charity’s logo and crazy hats are encouraged along the way.
There is a £100 gift card on offer for the best Gold inspired city centre window display, plus prizes for the best Gold inspired food or drink offering from local restaurants and bars.
Do tag Emily’s Gift charity and Gloucester BID in your social posts and be sure to include #GoGoldGlos!
