This week (w/c 8th January) a lot of work will be happening on Westgate Street as part of the High Street Heritage Action Zone.
Interpretation plaques are being placed alongside the mosaics at the start of the lanes off Westgate Street and by the outlines of the buildings on the ground.
Lower Westgate Street will see an amount of resetting of blocks, including a large removal of a section at the College Street junction. This will be laid with tarmac, then topped with buff coloured MMA in March.
There will also be a tidy up of street ‘furniture’, with many pieces being either removed or straightened.
Also, work is happening on Mister’s frontage and at number 17 Westgate Street (former BHF Shop).
The majority of this work is scheduled to take two weeks to complete (weather permitting) and there will be temporary disruption to some of the public walkways and access will be restricted. The rest of the works up to 4 weeks, again weather permitting.
Highways have sent letters to affected properties and Cathedral Quarter Gloucester will be distributing flyers with further details today.
