The Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum is launching a new veterans cafe in Gloucester next week with the support of Gloucestershire County Council.

The cafe is being launched for serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families, providing a space for them to gather, socialise and support each other.

It will open on Thursday, April 11 and run on the second Thursday of every month at the museum at Custom House in Gloucester Docks from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Free tea and coffee is available for those who attend and advice services will be available for anyone that needs help.

The County Council has recently relaunched the Armed Forces Covenant pages of its website.

This resource allows serving personnel, veterans, reservists and their families to find advice, help and social events in the area.

Councillor Andrew Gravells (C, Abbey), Armed Forces Champion for Gloucestershire, said: “I am delighted that we have been able to work with the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum to set up these sessions at the museum.

“Alongside that we have provided current advice and information for our Gloucestershire Armed Forces veterans and serving personnel on our website.

“The county council takes its commitment to our Armed Forces very seriously and we of course owe all of our Armed Forces serving personnel, veterans and their families a great debt of gratitude for their service to our country.”

Matthew Holden, director of the Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, said it is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the Armed Forces community and to help all to enjoy the best life they possibly can. For more information, visit the Armed Forces Covenant pages of the county council’s website.
