Celebrating all things Gloucester!
Gloucester Day falls on 7 September this year, and the Cross Streets of Gloucester will come alive with stalls, stands, lively performances, and all the pomp and ceremony of the traditional Gloucester Day parade through the four main gated streets, led by the Mayor and Sheriff of Gloucester, in full Civic Regalia.
The Gloucester Day event is the reinstatement of the original Gloucester Day – a day of celebration on the lifting of the siege of Gloucester – in 1643. The annual celebration is organised by Gloucester’s town crier Alan Myatt and supported by Gloucester City Council.
Events taking place include:
11.00am – Mock Mayor of Barton’s Parade – Starting along Constitution Walk. This intentionally comic parade is filled with larger than life Gloucester characters, traditional entertainers, music and fun.
12.00pm – 12.30pm – Thanksgiving Service at St Mary de Crypt – Everyone is invited to attend this free service.
1.00pm – Siege of Gloucester Show at The Cross, Gloucester City Centre. Enjoy the new comic drama featuring real characters associated with the Folk of Gloucester.
