Culture Club – ‘WW1 Poems from the Trenches and beyond’, with Ian McKay
Trench warfare and other horrors of WW1 produced some remarkable poetry. Long before video-diaries or i-phones, poets caught up in the conflict captured their feelings and those of their comrades. The speaker will read from Brooke, Owen, Sassoon and others, including Gurney and the Dymock Poets. They give us glimpses of suffering and courage, in words that reach us today, a century later.
