Plans to build 150 homes on a former RAF base in Gloucester are set to be approved next week.

Vistry Homes Ltd wants permission from Gloucester City Council to develop 14.3 acres of land north of Rudloe Drive in Quedgeley.

The site forms part of the wider former RAF Quedgeley base that has now been substantially redeveloped.

The scheme includes a mixture of 120 open market and 30 affordable homes ranging from one bed maisonettes to four bed houses.

And the development will include a mix of red brick and some use of render, if approved.

The site will also have two acres of public open space including a football pitch with a sheltered dug out and a play area.

Outline permission to develop the site was granted in July last year and current plans seek approval of reserved matters such as access, appearance, landscaping, layout and scale for the 150 homes, public open space and infrastructure.

Various alterations to the layout and design of the proposal have been made since the submission of the planning application to seek to overcome design concerns.

And now councillors are set to consider these proposals at a meeting at North Warehouse on November 1.

Officers have recommended approving the scheme subject to conditions. They say the proposals are consistent with planning policies.
