Events group Strike A Light are bringing their own bit of flavour to the Kings Square launch party with a giant dance flash mob!
The collaboration between Avant Garde Dance is inviting 100+ Gloucester residents, of all different ages and backgrounds to take part.
Kings Square is fully reopening – complete with fountains and to celebrate, there’s going to be a whole day of exciting, FREE events on Saturday 30 April including music and family activities.
Strike A Light is looking for Gloucester dancers (aged 14+) to join them in the exciting flashmob. You will have the opportunity to: work alongside an amazing professional dance company, @avantgardedance, learn a unique dance routine and be part of a public performance at the King’s Square launch.

The Kings Square event celebrates 50 years after the square was first opened in 1972, and aims to showcase the square as an events space by featuring lighting displays, dance performances and a dramatic high wire walk.
Throughout the day there will be a buzz of performances and free circus skills activities for children and young people, as well as a new show from hip-hop contemporary dance group, Avant Garde. SCRUM, is a 35-minute immersive experience merging dance with virtual reality and will invite visitors to scan the QR codes to view the hidden virtual layers.

Evening activities
6pm: DJ set, welcome
6.30pm-6.40pm: giant dance flashmob!
6.50pm: juggling/fire/circus skills
7pm-7.15pm: fountain show
7.30-8.05pm: ‘Scrum’ – dance x VR performance from Avant Garde
8.15-8.50pm: ‘Wave At The Moon’ – circus performance from Cirque Bijou and the Bullzini High Wire Company
