Police were called shortly before 4am today, Monday 27 February, with a report a firearm had been discharged at an address in Matson.

Armed officers attended and there was a large police presence in the area while enquiries took place.

During the incident, where a weapon was discharged at a front door, a dog inside the address sustained an injury and it was taken to a vet for treatment. There have been no other reported injuries.

Officers are in the early stages of an investigation and extra patrols will be taking place in the area. At this time no arrests have been made.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who lives in the area and may have CCTV or doorbell footage from between 2.30am and 4.30am.
