A call-out is being made for artists of all abilities to join us for a creative day, ‘Plein Air painting competition and exhibition, with prizes!

Are you a local budding artist and are you free on Saturday 17th August? If you are, then this will be the event for you!

Now in its seventh year, Art in the City is a painting competition for artists all over Gloucester to showcase their talent. All mediums are allowed, from oils, watercolours and pastels to acrylics, pencil and pen and ink. The subject? Gloucester.

Our fine city is rich with history and beautiful landmarks. All of which are enough to inspire any artist. Art in the City is challenging all artists to capture that history and beauty on their canvas.

Local artist and Director of That White Room CIC, Russell Haines, says:

“Art in the City has been building year on year and we want to make it a permanent addition to Gloucester’s cultural offering every year bringing nationally renowned artists to the city and encouraging families and children to get outside and paint, enjoy art and enjoy our city.”

Emily Gibbon, Manager at Gloucester Business Improvement District (BID), says:

“We are proud to be supporting this exciting city centre event. Encouraging budding artists of all abilities to put paintbrush to paper to encapsulate and immortalise their view of Gloucester.

This event has grown over the last few years and is one of the city centre’s highlights. We have some wonderful judges with more competitions categories and fabulous prizes!”
