Gloucester’s first ‘Hot Rock Grill’ Restaurant is still going strong: now in its fourteenth year serving locals and visitors to the city.
Tiger’s Eye restaurant has been at the Old Bell – a listed Inn dating back to the 17th Century, since 2008.
The relaxed 50-seat restaurant offers a unique, delicious, and interactive dining experience with the Hot Rock Grill. Customers can choose from a variety of meats such as Angus fillet, venison and lamb along with artisan meats such as kangaroo, llama or zebra. The hot rock sears in all the natural flavours and no oils are used in the cooking process. Customers place their steak, or one or two bite sized portions of meat onto the heated lava rock to sear to their desired taste.
With inspiration taken from Japanese Izakaya bars, the kitchen team have developed a tapas small plate menu where customers can pick and share a mix of dishes, the slow cooked Coca-Cola Pork Belly cubes being a long-standing favourite. They are currently running a tapas deal: 3 small plates for £12.
Diners can eat in the restaurant, which is ideal for larger tables, or you can choose one of the tables in the bar area. The Tiger’s Eye cocktail bar, locally known as the Oak Bar because of its oak panelling, is famous for its mojitos but also for the amazingly preserved carved fire surround, dating from 1650.
Tiger’s Eye also hosts a variety of weekly events, Live Music, Spoken word and poetry evenings as well as DJ nights. The Jam Sessions on Thursdays, where musicians can play freely with each other, are proving popular. All musicians welcome.
Manager Maisie said, ‘We offer a unique experience for customers, and we update our menus regularly. Gloucester is a great city which we love being part of. Now we’re open 7 days a week again, we hope to welcome even more customers along.’
Tiger’s Eye is open 7 days a week. Food is served from Wednesday to Sunday. The Tiger’s Eye Restaurant team also caters for private events and functions. The top floor houses another oak panelled bar (The Green Room), available for private hire, a game and lounge space with big screen, pool and foosball table that leads onto a roof terrace with dedicated smoking space.
