Wanted for our Tall Ship shop window art installation for May, to help us deliverĀ an exciting project for May 2024. The successful candidate will be asked to provide and deliver two parts of this project. Part one is to design 12 pirate and/or tall ship designs or icons that can be enlarged and implemented onto 12 shop windows. The second part is that they must ensure that 12 large pieces of artwork are installed and completed on the shop windows by the end of the first weekend of May.
The Artwork Brief:
The 12 pieces of artwork must be family friendly, be of a pirate and/or tall ship theme and use the colour palette of the Gloucester Tall Ship branding (Gloucester BID will provide this). The designs must not be too complicated, for the sake of installation timing. The medium used must be removable and not permanent, the example below uses chalk paint pens.
We are looking for ideas on how to celebrate tall ships by creating art installations in shop windows. Art can be printed, painted or anything you can come up with as long as it can be removed cleanly.Ā We are looking for something that will engage and capture the publicās imagination.Ā It doesnāt need to cover every inch but it needs to celebrate the festival.
Installation on Shop Windows:
Gloucester BID will contact 12 businesses who have a street facing window suitable for a large piece of artwork. Once 12 businesses have been chosen, Gloucester BID will notify the artist on the positions and placements and pass on the businessā main point of contact. The businesses will have the opportunity to choose their design from the 12 designs on a first come, first served basis. The candidate will be representing Gloucester BID as the project manager and artist for this project, and will be responsible for arranging the timings for art installation.
The successful candidate may seek help from other artists to install the pieces, as timing may be pressured due to potential limited access to business. This will have to come from the budget below. Any additional artists will be under your responsibility for this project. Gloucester BID are expecting a high level of artistic and professional skills and standards on this project, in keeping with the brief. Anything deemed to be below standard will be asked to be re-done at your own cost.
Budget:
Gloucester BID will be putting Ā£2,500 towards this project. This is to cover your time, materials and additional artists.
