Highlights for the Month

  • 1stLocated and reported a known teenager to CCTV who was then picked up by police due to being wanted.
  • Spotted and reported a known shoplifter who had a CBO ban, reported and added to disc.
  • 2ndThe Barton and Tredworth patrols were on today, made visits to all stores, engaged with staff and the public.
  • Assisted the police with taking back and returning items that had been used without The individual has been spoken to by the police.
  • The city team, patrolled all the city safe stores and BID areas, removed some of the street drinkers who were causing a noise and being a nuisance.
  • Assist with two shoplifters, these were picked up by police, whilst CPOs went and checked CCTV images of all stores that they had stolen items from.
  • 3rd Visited a city safe store who had been getting threats from an individual, all passed onto the police and crime number given.
  • Visit to the Student areas to engage with them and explain about the Covid 19 rules and how it impacts with them.
  • 4th Had to remove two young lads from an eating place as they decided to sit in, got very aggressive but were moved out.
  • Had a meeting with the police in relation to Covid 19 information, how it is going to impact on things in the future.
  • Shoplifters removed from stores, they were deterred and told to leave. CCTV informed and monitored them out of town.
  • 5th Two patrols on today, the Barton and Tredworth team visited all open stores in these areas, carried out the tasks set by the Council, team also had time to visit the testing centre to check everything is alright. No issues to action.
  • The city team had two concern for welfares to deal with, other agencies were requested for assistance, both issues were resolved.
  • Several cases of shoplifting were sorted out by CPOs, in most cases the goods were returned to the stores, all details were added to DISC. One of the cases is still waiting for confirmation from the store regarding the theft.
  • 6th A female street beggar was removed from a public location due to the aggressive way she was approaching members of the public.
  • A group of three people were removed from the town centre for begging, all pleading with the public for money, at times being quite forceful. These persons were not from Gloucester.
  • Welfare check made with an elderly lady who had been sat on one of the benches for a long while, no issues found.
  • 7th Called to investigate a male who was seen to be swinging a thick chain around, no one was found with a chain, but the people involved were removed from a city safe store for Detagging clothing, two people were passed onto CCTV for monitoring.
  • Well known shoplifter had struck again but had left store before confirmation of what she had taken. All details added to DISC, police informed.
  • A very large group of street drinkers were removed from a public area, lots of noise, swearing and some urinating in front of people walking past. All information passed to police.
  • 8th Assisted the PCSO with removing a large group of street drinkers who were beginning to get noisy and were annoying some builders trying to work.
  • Reports of a missing elderly male came through the radio; CPOs checked all the car parks and local areas. He was found later by the police not far from the area where he was reported missing.
  • 9th The two patrols on today, the Barton team had to speak once again to a known street beggar because of his attitude when he was refused money by the public.
  • The team managed to speak with most shop and store owners in the area and engaged with the public in these areas.
  • The city team assisted the police in breaking up a domestic fight and the arrest of the two individuals when further details came to light. Statements had to be written and summitted.
  • Engaged with public and visited the open stores, some covid safety advice given.
  • 10th Four cases of shoplifting dealt with, mostly alcohol being taken, all stolen items were recovered, and all individuals reported and added to DISC.
  • Two cases of welfare intervention as the individuals required other agency assistance, passed all details over and the two were safely dealt with.
  • 11th Called to help a store with a customer being rude to staff, the female was asked to leave the store, she paid for her items and left. No further issues.
  • Monitored street drinkers around the town as some of these individuals are involved with theft of alcohol. CCTV informed and monitored them near stores.
  • 12th Removed and reported groups of street drinkers from public areas, they were asked to go elsewhere and refused. All information passed to relevant agencies.
  • Street beggars removed from a main street, this pair are becoming a real nuisance, they are removed and then return. These individuals have been added to DISC and all agencies have been informed.
  • Spoke with some Travellers at the Westgate car park with information from the Council.
  • 13thTwo patrols on today, the city team having to deal with several cases of shoplifting, one arrested by police, the others were recorded, and details added to DISC and reported.
  • Two of our most prolific street beggars have been removed from a main street again.
  • The Barton and Tredworth teams have been visiting all open stores and engaging with the owners and staff and customers.
  • Removed some of the street drinkers from a carpark in the area, due to being rowdy and upsetting people visiting the City.
  • 14th A well-known shoplifter removed from a City safe store and reported as she has a ban from entering all city safe stores.
  • Broke up a fight between two males, police called and arrested one male for racial abuse to the other male and a CPO. Statements given to police.
  • 15th Removed several groups of street beggars throughout the day.
  • Removed and reported groups of street drinkers who were being a nuisance, names taken and reported to relevant agencies.
  • 16th Two teams operating again today, the Barton and Tredworth team dealing with some drinkers in a car park in the area, also visiting and engaging with shops and customers in both areas.
  • The city team were called to identify a shoplifter from CCTV images, all details added to DISC.
  • Called to assist with an argument caused by a complaint from an elderly lady that two young girls not wearing a mask. All was calmed down and sorted out. Masks were given but also one of the girls was exempt from wearing a mask.
  • 17th A fight broken up in Grey Friars with the street drinkers, both separated and moved on from the area. This incident was reported due to the high number of incidents with these drinkers.
  • Called to assist a store with a first aid casualty, de-fib machine used by trained staff already on site.
  • 18th Removed drink from street drinkers in the PSPO area early morning. Reported all involved.
  • A male who has a CBO banning from the town area was caught shoplifting, so reported to police, and all details added to DISC.
  • Assisted police in the arrest of a shoplifter who was also wanted on a warrant.
  • 19th Farmer’s market opened; new signage was added to the area regarding Covid 19 rules.
  • Assisted in locating and detention of a wanted male, police arrested this individual who is wanted on several warrants.
  • 20th Two patrols out today, the Barton and Tredworth team visited all areas and stores to ensure compliance with the Covid 19 regulations, a very small number of stores have become quite anti and have been aggressive in their response to the team visits. These stores have been advised about their obligations and reported to the Council Environmental Team.
  • The city safe team attended a store where a fight had broken out, checked the instore CCTV for the identification of the people involved, the police CCTV and police kept informed.
  • Called to assist with a male who had fallen over and banged his head on a door as he fell.
  • A member of public had already called the Ambulance. The male is part of the street drinking group and is very drunk, due the bang to the head he was kept there for the medics to check him over.  
  • 21st A small group of demonstrators turned up at the cross to protest the new laws being brought in regarding human rights, no issues and left peacefully at 14.00hrs.
  • 22nd Two known offenders spotted leaving City Safe members premises, after reviewing CCTV, theft of fragrances confirmed incident reported and added to the DISC system.
  • Known Prolific offender confirmed theft in Member’s store, incident added to the DISC system and incident also crimed.
  • Two breaches reported and logged for male breaching Civil Injunction as sighted on two occasions, in two different locations within the City Centre.
  • 23rd – CPO Team spot wanted female on bike with another female, quick call to Police CCTV and officers locate female and after quick chase female is arrested moments later. CPO Team was nearby to assist as requested.
  • Two officers Patrolling the Barton & Tredworth areas, checking in on stores making sure COVID-19 rules still being adhered to and engaging with the local community.
  • City Team move group of street drinkers from Mary De Crypt graveyard.
  • Local resident spoke to City Team reference ASB issues and Street drinking issues on London road, advice issued, and all information passed over to relevant agencies.
  • 24th – Sighting of Wanted male, Police CCTV alerted to location on two separate occasions, no police resources on both occasions.
  • Two breaches reported for known male with Civil Injunction.
  • Call from Eastgate Centre reference unwell female on the Car Park, Police alerted by team and they attend and help the lady in distress and get her the support she requires.
  • 25th – Team issue information to a new homeless individual who was seen previously begging.
  • Team laisse with member of staff from CGL regarding concerns with one of their clients, all information gathered and looking at solutions to help the individual.
  • 26th – CPO Team places social distancing signage for the Farmers Market on Gate Streets.
  • Whilst approaching the Underpass, CPOs spot two males and a female in the bus shelter of the railway station, one male appeared to be very aggressive and verbal. Male then makes threats towards CPOs; male is moved on from area and Police CCTV informed.
  • Sighting of known male acting suspiciously on the gate streets, CCTV made aware, and male is later arrested.
  • Assist CCTV in locating male that was wanted by Police, male located in McDonald’s and was arrested.
  • Help Identify offender in relation to series of bike thefts in the City.
  • Known offender with an active CBO seen in the City, breach logged and reported.
  • Team patrolling Barton & Tredworth area, ensuring all shops and businesses are Covid compliant.
  • Lots of Positive feedback from businesses in the Barton & Tredworth area.
  • 27th Deterred one shoplifter from entering City safe stores, he was reported to CCTV and monitored out of the city.
  • One shoplifter was stopped after a theft had occurred, all goods retrieved and returned to the store. All details have been added to DISC.
  • Team spoke with some young lads about climbing on the roofs, this was also passed to police and CCTV.
  • 28th Cause to remove several teams of Beggars from City locations after their behaviour became very aggressive towards the public, they were reported to CCTV to monitor and details given to the police.
  • Shoplifter deterred from several stores, he was reported and removed from stores.
  • 29th Removed several groups of street drinkers from very public areas, they were being very loud and rude amongst and to members of the public. All details handed over to police team.
  • Spotted and assisted in the arrest of a wanted male.
  • 30th Two teams on today, the Barton team visited all open shops and engaged with all staff and advised on the new lifting of restrictions and advice around what this means.
  • Advised the police of a possible new drug dealing area and spoke to store owners nearby to advise on reporting of incidents if they see anything.
  • The city team dealt with several homeless individual, all details added to relevant agencies.
  • Street drinkers removed from the cathedral ground as they were being a nuisance.
  • Students were advised about the City having a PSPO in place and not being able to drink alcohol whilst walking around.
  • 31st Assisted the police with a cordon around Kings Walk carpark area.
  • Two males fighting outside on Southgate Street, broken up and both went separate ways.
  • Monitored and deterred shoplifters, all were passed onto police CCTV to monitor out of town.
