Highlights for the Month
- 1st– Welfare checks carried out with all homeless and street drinkers due to adverse weather conditions.
- Attend and support PCSOs with a shoplifter, also other persons around who were not very happy with male shoplifter.
- 2nd– Monitored known shoplifters around the City, CCTV informed.
- Monitor and report a known trouble maker who has been causing issues around the city and report issues as they happen, this took up most of the day.
3rd– Welfare checks carried with the street drinkers; one had been beaten up the previous evening, however refused any medical assistance. Passed all details to the police.

- Called to assist with a shoplifter caught and detained in a city safe store, helped with the processing and all goods returned.
- A known individuals was causing a number of ASB issues around the city, so dealt with him a few times.
- 4th– Offered support to police during an arrest, until the van arrived.
- Known individual causing issues in stores around the city, assisted with him and tried to get him removed from town.
- Well known shoplifters monitored around the city to prevent and deter any shoplifting.
- 5th– Approached by two females who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by a male, all details passed to CCTV to try and locate offender, the females reported via 101, and CPOs went locate the offender.
- Welfare checks made on a female rough sleeper, information for food and accommodation advice given. Details passed on to relevant agencies.
- A known individual who has caused issues around the city, decided to try busking, he was involved in several incidents during the day and police ended up removing him from the city.
- 6th– Supported a member of public who has been frightened by a male, advised CCTV, added patrols around the area during the day to help provide support to the people living in this area.
- Called to remove a drunk male who was causing issues in one of the banks.
- Removed a very aggressive male who had refused to put a mask on when entering a store, then tried to antagonise the CPOs into a fight, he was being racially abusive, and made threats. CCTV informed and details added to DISC.
- Called to assist with the removal of an aggressive male from another city safe establishment. He went as soon as it was explained to him.
- 7th– Called to assist members of the public who were having issues with a male staring through their front windows. Police informed and details logged on DISC.
- Removed a group of street drinkers from the graveyard at St Marys Decrypt, They were causing too much noise and disturbing the locals in the area.
- Called to attend two separate incidents of shoplifting, goods returned, and all details added to DISC.
- 8th– Assisted in retrieving stolen goods from shoplifters, one detained and the other reported to police. All details have been added to DISC.
- Took part in a study for University students, a day in the life of a CPO Officer.
- 9th– Several incidents of the same male causing issues, all information was collated and passed to police.
- Persistent beggars were removed from public areas, police informed, and DISC updated.
- First aid given to a very drunk lady who had fallen over, she was escorted back to her place of residence.
- 10th– An individual was removed from a city safe store as he has been on exclusion from all stores and has a live CBO. All information added to DISC and passed to the police.
- Dealt with a report of anti-social behaviour from drunk males being aggressive, and youths being stupid on scooters and bikes.
- 11th– Called to identify and confirm a shoplifter from a city safe store.
- Called to attend several cases of anti-social behaviour, ranging from drunks, and a male staring through people’s windows, to an individual being disruptive constantly around the town.
- 12th– Called to assist store security with shoplifters, all details have been added to DISC.
- Attended to calls from worried residents about a male who has been loitering around the flats area. All details have been passed to the police.
- 13th–Called to assist a PCSO who had stopped two people shoplifting, one was detained as he was wanted for other offences, the other checked over and released. All details added to DISC.
- Called to help remove individuals from around a building causing issues with others.
- 14th– Located and assisted in the arrest of a wanted individual.
- Removed a person who was causing alarm and distress by intimidating staff and loitering, but not buying in a city safe store.
- Reported and monitored an individual who has a live banning order not to enter the city. CCTV informed and monitored also.
- Called to identify a person from CCTV image. Person was known and all details passed onto relevant agencies.
- 15th– Street aware meeting held online, information gathering and sharing with all relevant agencies.
- Called to assist with a fight, groups dispersed, and police called to deal with an assault.
- Welfare check escalated to calling for assistance for an individual, police attended and the person left the area.
- 16th– One of the CPO teams attended a meeting in Barton Street police station.
- Assisted in locating and arrest of a wanted male due to outstanding offences.
- Sighted, reported and removed two individuals, one who had a CBO, the other a civil injunction, both have a ban from being in the city.
- Attended a very aggressive male at one of the banks, the male was calmed down and the problem was resolved for him.
- 17th Attended a situation where a male was being very aggressive but also threatening to passers-by, the police were informed and the situation calmed down. All details passed to the police.
- Called to assist with a female refusing to leave a city safe store. This female had an exclusion ban from all city safe stores so was removed, police also arrested her for outstanding warrants.
- A very large group of youths were requested to leave a takeaway store, nine people breaching Covid rules and making a lot of noise. Refused to take advice about smaller groups and Covid rules.
- 18th– Called to deal with an individual who has been a constant issue around town, he was removed from the top floor of the car park bridge link for his own safety.
- Called to attend a large group of people causing issues in one of the city safe public houses. They moved on with no further issues.
- 19th–. Attended a city safe store to assist with a shoplifter, police called as this person was wanted and provided false details.
- A very aggressive male was asked to leave a store for abusing staff when asked to wear a mask, called to assist and calm the situation down.
- Attended a problem individual who was causing some issues on a car park.
- Removed an aggressive beggar from a shopping centre area.
- 20th– Identified a male shoplifter for a city safe store, also this individual was in breach of a CBO, both offences reported via DISC. Police informed.
- Male reported missing from his address, but found in town very quickly, police informed and came to talk to them.
- Attended three shoplifting offences and assisted with identification and processing them through DISC.
- 21st– Stopped and detained a prolific shoplifter, all goods retrieved and returned to correct stores. Reported on DISC and now on the exclusion list.
- A Group of a male and two females attempted a mass shoplift from one of the bigger city safe stores, goods were retrieved and this group has been added and an alert was sent out via DISC.
- 22nd Report of two thefts from one city safe store, one was unknown offender, the second a male and female detained, all information added to DISC.
- Called to assist a city safe member from a public house, a drinker got very aggressive after being refused more drink. Police attended and arrested the male.
- Male chased from a city safe store, the male was identified and police picked him up, he was then arrested. Details added to DISC.
- 23rd Several shoplifting offences caused by the same individual, all details added to DISC and reported directly to the police.
- A known individual with a CBO was removed from a store and from town. All information added to DISC.
- A youth was repeatedly told to stop riding a skateboard through the shopping centre and he was escorted outside by security, the board was returned to him outside,
- Several welfare checks made with vulnerable individuals who are known to CPOs.
- 24th Reports of a known troubled youth that has been having a few concerns raised regarding welfare, call to the crisis team and Police in attendance. Safely arranged for the male to be taken home.
- Reports of a known prolific offender targeting stores in and around the city, confirmed ID by reviewing CCTV.
- Reports regarding concerns for a female, located and in safe hands of police officers.
- Assist City Safe Member Security Officer with obtaining details of offender and issuing Store ban and Yellow card.
- Same troubled youth that was previously taken home by officers, seen by Security, team locate with the assistance of the Security and CCTV, male was then safely taken home again by Police.
- Known Male who appears to be causing some distressing issues in and around the city was stopped by CPOs, advice given. PCSOs attend and male was then issued a Section 35 notice for 24 hours, banning him from the City.
- Known youth spotted and concerns for welfare raised, Police attend and male is safely taken home.
- Visit City Safe Member and Identify known offender after reviewing CCTV, store advised to report the offence to police.
- Stopped male on Kings Square as reports from City Safe member stated that the male was making staff feel uncomfortable, PCSOs attend, and male is issued a Section 35 24-hour ban and is taken out of the city by the PCSOs.
- Assist City Safe Member Security with offender, was issued Yellow Card and will be added to DISC, store ban also issued and male removed from the City.
- City Safe Member alerts team that 3 x young females were in distress after encountering a difficult issues, police attend and obtain information and the girls were safely taken home.
- Known youth from previous incident is spotted again by Security, the team attend the location and walk male to get the bus, due to a delay Police officer assists and takes the male home.
- 25th Males welfare checked outside Tesco Express, PCSO attends and conducts street link as male is currently homeless.
- Known youth again seen in the city centre, Police are called as concerns for welfare, male is taken home.
- Attend College Street as reports of an aggressive individual, male sighted and is advised to leave the City centre.
- Team carry out checks on City Safe Members.
- 26th Monitored known male as concerns raised regarding behaviour in stores male spoken to by CPOS’s as well as Police.

- Advice given to known Big Issue Seller, as individual not wearing the Red Vest.
- Welfare check on new rough sleeper, when carrying out checks male was instantly aggressive, making threats to attack and did not want to engage. Police informed, and they later attended.
- Spoke to a group of youths who were spotted climbing on scaffolding, all advised and they leave the area safely.
- Known prolific offender spotted, and all members made aware, male was monitored closely by Police CCTV and CPOs.
- Reports of youths throwing eggs & cheese off car-park roof, youths sighted, all were on bikes and were stopped by CPOs and advised to leave the City Centre.
- Known Prolific Offender sighted, they enter City Safe Store and committed an offence of shoplifting. Stopped by CPOs, items retrieved and the individual removed from store and advised to leave the City. Offence to be added to DISC.
- 27th Team distributes leaflets on behalf of the City Council regarding information about Continental Market on the Gate Streets.
- Assist City Safe Member with Shoplifter, individuals’ details obtained and individual to be banned from store and yellow carded.
- Conduct welfare checks on all stores.
- 28th Two known offenders stopped in the city for theft, stock retrieved and both individuals removed from the City.
- Known male with live CBO spotted in the city, male advised to leave the area as he is breaching conditions and no confirmation of any appointments booked.
- Known female safely handed over to officers as concerns for welfare raised, CPOs engage with female until officers’ attend.

- Known offender spotted, passed over to all City Safe Members to be aware.
- Group of Individual’s being anti-social in the Cathedral grounds, group caught up with and advice given, one male did not appreciate the advice and became verbally aggressive before eventually moving away, the same male took a bike from a member of the group and started riding in an anti-social manor before almost hitting a young child. CPOs approach male as he stops and he quickly rides off.
- Receive call from Shopping Centre asking for assistance as they have a very intoxicated male in the centre who was refusing to leave. Upon arrival the male was compliant, but once he saw the CPOs the male’s attitude changed, eventually the male left the centre and then become verbally aggressive and threatening towards the CPOs. Male then challenges a CPO after refusing to leave and started making threatening remarks, the male had to be restrained and was handed over to the Police.
- 29th Report from the Railway Station that they had a young male there and were concerned for his welfare. CPOs attend and male is safely handed over to Police.
- Assist City Safe member with three Romanian females that proceeded to try and leave store with a trolley full of unpaid items. Due to the high value and them not being co-operative Police had to be contacted, after Police attend and all checks completed 3 x yellow cards issued as well as store bans issued.
- 30th Spoke to large group of students and reminded them about being in group of six and social distancing.
- Local street drinkers being anti-social, advice given and reminded them about the PSPO rules on drinking in the City and social distancing.
- Interact with the ZWING Scooter Marshals.
- Concerns for welfare of a male who was passed over by local venue. CPOs engage with the male and helped the male feel better for himself. Crisis team’s number was passed to him in case if he should require it, male was more positive afterwards than when first encountered.
Two known young females spoken to as safeguarding concerns raised, Police officer stopped and assisted, both females safely leave area.
- 31st Reports of a female claiming to be under-cover police and trying to help get local dealers locked up, spoken too by CPO’s, female was under the influence. CCTV made aware, Officers to attend.
- Assist Police in trying to locate male who had been causing criminal damage around the City. This male was later picked up by the police and arrested
- Large groups of young males moved on after being warned it’s against PSPO to drink in public spaces in the City, also in relation to Covid rules.
