Highlights for the Month
- 1st– Welfare check carried out on two people who were sleeping outside of the stores on Southgate Street. All available food locations and telephone numbers were given to them. Checks/referrals to agencies carried out.
- Anti Vax protesters set up on Eastgate street, received some complaints. Attended and engaged with them, no further issues.
- Call from CCTV about a pair of individuals who were wanted, checks made on the usual places where they have been seen in the past.
- Assist store security with a shoplifter. All details added to disc.
- 2nd–, The city safe patrol had to assist with a very distraught female who had been abused verbally by a male. This male has been reported to the police before for his behaviour. CPOs spoke firmly to the male and the female was encouraged to report the alleged assault/abuse to the police.
- A drugs packet had been handed into the police station after being found on the floor of a city store. CCTV checked and the person who dropped it was picked out. This image will also go to the police.
- Welfare check made on a known individual who had just been released from prison, he had nothing but the clothes he stood in and no accommodation, he was taken to the City Mission and P3 informed.
- 3rd– Several street drinkers removed from public areas due to their behaviour, some of the groups were very rude and shouting at members of the public.
- A known shoplifter monitored around the city between CCTV and CPOs.
- Two person who have city bans / injunctions have been reported as both were seen in the city centre. Statement provided.
- 4th– A very loose and dangerous floor slab repaired, this was in a doorway to a main store and several people were tripping over it. This was added to the council list for permanent repair.
- Attended a store to check the CCTV for the identification of a person who has repeatedly been shoplifting. The name of this individual was given to the store and the police.
- Three incidents of shoplifting dealt with by stores and CPOs today, all details will be added to disc.
- A shoplifter was identified via store CCTV, all information passed to police and added to disc.
- Called to a domestic argument which was getting very loud, after talking to the couple, the police arrived so the CPOs handed over to them.
- Two incidents of shoplifting were dealt with by the store security aided by CPOs.
- 5th– Steet Drinkers were removed from the graveyard for being loud and rude to the public.
- Spoke to a young lad and advised him to ring 101 after his bike was stolen from the Boots racking.
- The Barton team carried out patrols through the Barton and also the Tredworth high street, checked in with store owners and members of the public. The afternoon patrol concentrated on the Kingsholm areas, spoke with the street drinkers throughout the area.
- 6th– Two of the team attended De Fib refresher training provided by Mc Donald’s.
- Attended one of the city safe stores to check the CCTV and managed to identify two out of three shoplifters, this information was passed onto police as the three females were from Cheltenham.
- Spoke with an individual who had just lost his accommodation and is now homeless, P3 and all agencies informed and visited.
- 7th– Stopped a male trying to steal alcohol from a store, this person was already banned from the store, he was given a further warning and was reported to police.
- Spoke with a man who was complaining about street drinkers outside of the premises where he works, CPOs will make extra trips around this area, also an application pack to join city safe was handed to him.
- Called to attend a fight in Southgate Street between street drinkers, this was over some money, the two fighting were separated and sent in opposite directions. CCTV and police informed with all relevant information.
- A second team patrolled the Kingsholm and Barton areas during the day. No issue to report.
- 8th– Called to attend a food establishment after information from a member of the public who insisted that a male had been using drugs on the premises. On Checking CCTV, the male concerned was identified. The management and police informed.
- Spoke with a pair of buskers who had turned the volume up on their amplifier to loud, there were no further issues.
- Made a check on all areas for a missing female, not found during this time, however after enquiries were made people had seen her around and she seemed ok welfare wise.
- A young female who has MH problems spoken to and taken to the cavern to speak to someone qualified.
- 9th– Removed a street beggar who was drinking and being very aggressive to the public, Â he became very abusive initially but left after being informed of the rules.
- Information passed onto CCTV about one of our problem individuals, who was sat in Southgate Street, it appears he has not been taking his medication. He will be monitored by CCTV.
- Called to attend and support a security guard who was being racially abused by a drunk female. Police were called and arrested the female.
- 10th– Shoplifter was detained in a city safe store, this individual was given a yellow card by the CPOs, all information was added to disc and given to the police.
- Informed by a member of the public about a group of youths fighting in the Cathedral grounds, on arrival the fighting had stopped. It transpired they were all mates and were play fighting, they shortly left the area. No further issues.
- 11th– Called to check a stores CCTV shortly after a shoplifting theft, the person was identified and information was put out on the radio, this person was arrested by the police for the theft and breach of a CBO.
- Removed four drunk males from an area as they were being abusive to female staff who objected to them urinating against her shop wall.
- Called to check on the welfare of a male who was lying on the pavement on Eastgate street, on arrival the male was known to the CPOs. He was woken up and moved on, he was advised to go home.
- CPOs located a missing female, police were informed of her location, they then took over the incident.
- 12th– One of the patrols had located a rubbish dump site and passed this information onto the 3GS team to investigate.
- CPOs assisted three young schoolgirls who had been frightened by a male who made comments towards them, they were escorted back to their school area.
- The male from above was also involved in other issues and making threats, police were called and arrested this male. Statements and camera information completed reference this incident.
- Removed an aggressive beggar from the area of an ATM machine, he was verbally abusive and aggressive to CPOs, however he moved away from the area.
- 13th–Welfare incident, an elderly male was having problems negotiating the stairwell in Eastgate centre, he was helped and assisted down the stairs and insisted he will make his own way home.
- Called to assist a city safe store regarding a male acting very suspiciously. This male had committed no offences and shortly left the store. He was passed on through to CCTV just to monitor.
- Attended the area of Westgate Street where a fight between two females had broken out, the physical fight was over upon the arrival of the CPOs, but the shouting and screaming continued. This was defused and the two were separated. Police had also arrived due people living near calling them.
- 14th– Attend a briefing at Bearlands police station regarding a shoplifting operation in the city.
- Working alongside the police during the day. CPOs removed a teenager who is making a name for himself and causing asb, he was rude and disruptive in stores.
- 15th– Spoke to and moved on street drinkers from the graveyard at St Mary Decrypt.
- Welfare and first aid incident where a female had fallen over and required some assistance. No ambulance was required.
- Two shoplifters were caught and detained, police put them onto their system the CPOs yellow carded them, both were repeat offenders.
- Attended an incident of a female being very rude, aggressive and racist towards staff, police were called due to the nature of her behaviour and hate crime reported.
- A wanted individual was spotted and reported to police, this person was duly arrested by the police.
- 16th– Stopped an argument from occurring on Eastgate street, the conversation was becoming very aggressive, both parties split up and moved on.
- Deterred and removed a potential shoplifter, all items he had stashed were removed and returned to the store.
- Checked a CCTV camera for the identification of individuals who had broken into a city safe store. All information passed onto the police.
- Anti Vax group set up on the gate streets, some of them were being rude to the people who did not agree with their views.
- Missing female found and passed onto police, who checked her welfare.
- Two young boys detained for shoplifting, due to the young age police were called to deal with them.
- 17th Additional checks made around the city for a street drinker who is wanted by the police.
- Assisted in the removal from a store of a young lad who had been stealing but refused to leave the store when caught.
- Monitored a group of known shoplifters around the city.
- 18th– Located and reported to police the location of a wanted individual, he was arrested shortly afterwards.
- Break up a large group who were having a domestic type of argument on Northgate Police were in attendance also.
- A bank card and some information on the use of the card by others was passed to the CPOs, this card and information was given to the police at Bearlands.
- 19th–. A CPO and the city safe manager made special visits to some of the city safe stores and carried out additional tasking. Before meeting up with the council and Bid members.
- Spoke to two individuals who were having an argument in the street, both separated and moved off in different directions.
- First aid incident attended due to the security in store not being first aid trained. The incident was minor after treatment the injured person, they walked home.
- 20th– Removed several aggressive beggars from public areas of the city, being rude to members of the public.
- Street drinkers spoken to because one being almost unconscious, someone had given him a headache tablet, but it was too strong for him, an ambulance was called, and he was taken to GRH. Police also made aware of this situation.
- Met up with the PCC and team at Butlers who were hosting a purple flag event.
- 21st– Members of the public complaining about a floor slab being dangerous outside of a store on Southgate Street. The slab was packed underneath with gravel to stabilize it and spray painted to highlight the issue for permanent repair.
- A Male complained he was being chased around town by a group of dangerous males, he was escorted to Bearlands police station and handed over to them for safety.
- Called to an altercation on Southgate Street, a large group (12) teenaged boys arguing with an older male, lots of threats from both sides being shouted. The groups were split up, CCTV informed of the reasons for the argument. CCTV to monitor both sides.
- 22nd Stepped in on an argument between two females, one was being racist towards a younger girl, CCTV advised, and the older female was given a warning about her behaviour, she seemed drunk and stressed out. The younger girl did not seem to be bothered about it and there were no police resources able to attend.
- Street drinkers removed from the graveyard area due to noise levels and alcohol on show.
- A large group of teenagers removed from the Greyfriars area all smoking weed, the wind was blowing it into Eastgate Shopping centre and people were complaining.
- Street beggars moved on due to the public complaining about them demanding money from in an aggressive manner.
- A Missing person was located and passed onto the police so they could speak to him to ensure his safety.
- 23rd First aid incident on Southgate Street, a male who was unconscious in a chair, due to his breathing being restricted he was put onto the floor in the recovery position, an ambulance was called, when checked for identification it was noticed he had four different bank cards in different names, the police were also called.
- Several cases of shoplifting dealt with alongside the store security teams, all information added to disc and passed to the police.
- Welfare checks carried out on the street people, no issues.
- 24th A welfare concern arose, a male claimed he was lost but was staying in Gloucester on a Rehab course, after checking all the local centres we finally managed to get him back to his room and handed him to his house manager for safety.
- A female was detained and checked against the disc system, she had three children in tow, and still decided to try shoplifting. All details taken and she was released. CCTV monitored her out of town.
- Defused an argument between a security guard and a customer, the store manager was called to intervene and sort out the issues that caused the problem.
- 25th Received a call from one of the agencies looking for one of our known street people, when the individual was seen all information and phone contact number was given to that individual.
- Drunk male being abusive and a nuisance, he was removed from the city centre area and was advised to sleep it off somewhere.
- Removed a group of street drinkers from the St Mary Decrypt graveyard.
- CPOs attended a presentation at the Cavern for the City’s Street cleaning team.
- 26th Attended to shoplifters who tried to steal items, they were stopped, police arrived and took over the incident as both were well known. Yellow card final warning was issued.
- The street drinkers were removed from public areas due to the high noise levels and acts of aggression being shown between themselves.
- Search was on all day for a missing person, all known local areas checked.
- All carparks were regularly checked during the day as they seem to attract groups of young people and there had been reports of them throwing things over the walls.
- Anti Vax group out again, they are now putting stickers onto shop windows which are causing the owners extra work to get rid of the residue from the glue.
- 27th Attended a training session led by the Council regarding Environmental issues and how CPOs can help.
- Street drinkers removed from the graveyard area, members of the public are too afraid to go through due to the swearing and drinking.
- Assisted store security with two cases of shoplifting, all given a warning, details added to disc and police informed.
- 28th Young males seen in several stores acting very strangely, police picked one up later and found he was wanted as he had run away. Police returned him home.
- The Quays and peel centre were patrolled today, spoke with several city safe stores and members of the public.
- A concentrated effort spent today locating and reporting of Fly Tipping areas, some are quite large, others were just a few bags. All have been reported
- 29th Several snatch type thefts from stores, offenders walk into the store and grab something and run out, some items retrieved but most got away with the items. Stores are putting good stock near doors to bring people in. Crime prevention advice given.
- Monitored several known individuals around the town preventing them entering city safe stores.
- 30th Dealt with several cases of shoplifting, the same person had not been identified, on re-checking the CCTV footage it was ascertained that it was the same individual, all stores affected were advised to ring 101 and get incidents/crimes registered with the police.
- A Female shoplifter was detained and returned to the store that she had stolen from. This female is known and received a final yellow card from CPOs, the store needs to add all details to disc and crime it with the police.
- 31st The CPO team carried out lots of visits over the day, also assisted one city safe member with some additional radio training, reported a problem individual.
- Three males who were attempting to swap labels on clothing were caught out, they were removed from the city area after becoming aggressive when they were stopped.
