Highlights for the Month
- 1st– Removed a small group of street drinkers from the graveyard at Grey Friars, one got aggressive, but he eventually moved on.
- Assisted a store with an identification of a shoplifter, this person is a repeat offender in so many incidents, all information was relayed to the police directly.
- Broke up a dispute which was leading to a fight, two males and a female involved, all were removed from the immediate area and police CCTV monitored them. Police were called out to one of the males.
- A welfare checks and assistance was given to a very drunk male who was then removed from a hazardous area, he was taken to meet a friend of his who looked after him.
- 2nd- Dealing with a street drinker who was very drunk, he was spoken to and moved on from a public area in the city as he was blocking a store doorway.
- A known male was reported for driving a personnel electric scooter through town very erratically and at high speeds through crowds of people.
- Attended Bearlands police station for a briefing on joint CPO and police patrols.
- Attended a street aware meeting Via zoom, anti-social behaviour in the city was the topic.
- 3rd– Attended another zoom meeting to cover street drinkers and problems caused by rough sleepers.
- Called to identify some individuals who had been stealing from a city safe store. Both the names added to disc and reported to the police.
- 4th– Called to assist with a male who had walked out of GRH, he was only dressed in a gown and a pair of socks. After talking to this male, he seemed confused, police were informed via CCTV and they came, picked him up and took him back to hospital.
- Checked on a store due to a panic alarm being activated, this turned out to be a false alarm as their system was faulty.
- Several incidents of attempted thefts from several stores, all items were retrieved, and all details added to disc.
- 5th– The new government information leaflet for covid has been given out in the Barton and Tredworth areas.
- A known individual who has a civil injunction banning him from the city centre had been breached twice in one day, all this information has been passed to police.
- Called to a store to identify a male and female who had taken nearly £4,000 pounds worth of makeup and perfume. No positive ID but used CCTV to try and locate where they went and for an ID sought.
- A known male who was seen walking through town with an open backpack with a tool handle sticking out of the bag. The police were informed, and this person was arrested for carrying an offensive weapon.
- 6th– Small group of street drinkers were removed from the graveyard at Grey Friars.
- Concern for welfare raised for one of the female drinkers who is known to have an abusive boyfriend, the police were informed and left to deal.
- 7th– Several incidents of shoplifting dealt with and processed, one male is unknown after running out of the store, his picture was added to disc as id sought.
- Two drunk males removed from an eatery, they had both been drunk and asleep so removed from that location. Managed to assist one of them as he had lost his wallet and car keys.
- Two known street beggars removed from their locations in a public space as they had become aggressive with the public who refused to give them money.
- 8th– Broke up a domestic fight, the two were separated and explained that it cannot happen in a public space where there are public and children. They both left the area.
- Called to assist in Kings walk, a female was verbally abusing the store staff, once the female was calmed down it was noticed she had mental health issues, she was guided down towards the Cavern to talk with the staff there.
- A known shoplifter was deterred in a store, he became very abusive to security guards and was warned that he would be arrested if he continued. He was processed through the yellow card system, he then left.
- 9th– Called to assist with holding three males who had previously been sexually abusive to a member of staff, they were held until police arrived, all three were then arrested.
- Spoke with a known female who has mental health issues, she looked a bit worse for wear but said she was all ok in herself today. CCTV informed and they will monitor her.
- First aid incident one of the street people needed to get to A&E but was having problems walking, a stick was obtained for him, and CCTV monitored his progress to GRH.
- Several incidents of shoplifting dealt with and processed onto disc.
- 10th– A patrol covered the Kingsholm areas conversing with store owners and members of the public, the two park areas mapped for homeless sleepers, these were spoken with. Then in the afternoon the patrol checked the Barton and Tredworth areas.
- The city safe team patrolled all the local drinking areas checking the street drinkers and advising those in public areas to move on.
- Two young females were detained by CPOs until police arrived, they had done a runner from a taxi, the driver was close behind. The money was paid by one of the boyfriends.
- Removed several cars from the pedestrian areas as the gate street bollards were not working correctly.
- 11th– Assisted shop staff with a male stopped for shoplifting, he became very aggressive, so police were called, this male was arrested and searched, and a small amount of drugs were found.
- One of the shop car parks were cleared of rough sleepers as it was being deep cleaned due to the mess these people had created during their stay.
- 12th– Several visits during the day to remove street drinkers in public areas who are being a nuisance, they have been spoken with and had the reasons they are being moved explained.
- Several cases of shoplifting have been dealt with today, in most cases all the goods and identification has been collected. All information has been added by the relevant stores to disc. The information has also been given to the police.
- A team also patrolled the Kingsholm areas, gathering information and intelligence regarding drug dealing which has been passed onto the relevant agencies.
- The Barton and Tredworth patrols were cut short due to major police incident, this has led to the Barton Street area being closed off.
- 13th– Three welfare incidents which needed other agency assistance, our work consisted of speaking to the public and closing off areas around a car park in the city.
- Removed street drinkers from town locations and London Road areas where they were becoming a nuisance to members of the public.
- Removed street beggars who were also becoming a nuisance by aggressively begging and being rude to people who refused to give them money.
- Met up with other agency representatives and had a good catch up with what is going on in the city.
- 14th– Deterred several shoplifting attempts by being in the right place at the right time. The individuals were spoken to about their behaviour and advised to leave the city.
- One individual was reported for breaching his CBO by being in the city area. This was recorded and passed onto the police.
- Took part in a tour / talk discussion with the BID Marketing Manager which was filmed.
- A known street beggar was removed from the city area as he has become aggressive with members of the public.
- 15th– Assisted with a male who was harassing staff at a hotel location in the city. The aggressor had made off before the CPOs arrived.
- Attended and assisted the police with a cordon around the train station during an incident when all people were evacuated.
- Called to an incident in a store where a female was being harassed by an Ex-partner. The male had an injunction banning him, so he was warned by a PCSO, and he left the area.
- 16th– Deterred several shoplifting attempts in separate stores, security and CPOs being present.
- One shoplifting incident passed directly to police due to the circumstances of the of what was used during the shoplifting offence.
- Large group of teenagers spoken to on Long Smiths carpark roof, after explaining the danger they all left the area. No further issues from this group.
- 17th One of the street beggars came to the CPOs to confess to selling a lost phone, this was passed to the PCSO on duty as technically it’s a theft.
- Spent a lot of time dealing with a new person in town, he has been street linked and is in the system, but today he was very drunk and causing issues, he was also caught shoplifting from a city safe store, so he has now been issued a yellow card.
- 18th– Called to a store as the female staff were being abused by a known individual, CPOs attempted to speak with this person, but he walked of. Police informed as this has happened to another store in the past. The person was monitored by CCTV.
- Removed a drunk female from a sports store, this female was left on a bench as she was not engaging with CPOs and was being rude, police and CCTV informed.
- A welfare check was made on one of the street people who seemed very down, after checks made, he seemed a lot better having talked it through. Will monitor him closely.
- Two known individuals who are banned from entering the city area had breached and reported.
- 19th– The two teams of CPOs and the Covid teams attended a training session in the North Warehouse.
- Removed large groups of street drinkers from several locations during the day.
- Removed a sleeping drunk male from a doorway who was causing some concern to the public.
- Assisted a city safe store with a shoplifting incident, the male was identified, and all details added to disc.
- 20th– During our daily checks on the rough sleepers found one of them in a bad way, an ambulance was called, and the individual taken to GRH for checks.
- Some of the areas being used by these individuals needed to be cleaned up, they were requested to assist with collecting all the rubbish and putting it a bin.
- Two shoplifters identified and one was later arrested for this offence.
- Children were removed from one of the multi storey carparks as they were playing and skateboarding amongst the traffic.
- Assisted with the breaking up of a fight in the centre of city at a local pub, police arrived, and the pair were dispersed.
- 21st– Removed several groups of street drinkers during the day.
- Several known shoplifters were monitored by CPOs and CCTV around the city, they were deterred from entering stores and eventually left the area.
- First aid check carried out on a male who had tripped on a curb on Station Road. The male seemed fine with only minor injury; he was also very drunk. A lady friend of his was looking after him.
- Welfare checks and Street link completed on a new homeless person in the city. All relevant agencies were sent messages for the next day.
- 22nd Called to assist with the identification of a male who had been using the toilet for taking drugs, he had set off the fire alarms twice. This male was not recognised but was banned by centre staff.
- Called by CCTV to stop and hold a male who had been seen on camera trying to steal a push bike, this male is known, police arrived and took over the incident.
- Street Drinkers removed from a central location in the city as they had alcohol in view and were becoming very rowdy towards the public.
- 23rd Joint CPO and Police patrols took place, engaging with the public and businesses. Spent time travelling around all the known spots for the street drinkers and engaging with them.
- Removed a very drunk male who was causing distress in a bank, would not listen to the staff and spent time arguing with them.
- Called to a store as a male had been caught trying to steal £273.00 worth of prepacked meats. Police were called and this person was arrested.
- Assisted the PCSO in breaking up a fight on Southgate Street, this was between the street drinkers, both parties were separated and removed from the immediate area.
- 24th There were two CPO teams in today, also a split team of CPO and police. The Kingsholm area was patrolled, and all areas were checked, the street drinkers were engaged with and asked to move from the public areas they were in.
- The city patrols checked all the main drinking areas and made sure that the drinkers had cleaned up some of the mess they had left behind. Also checked all the carpark areas for rough sleepers and drinkers.
- Two shoplifters were caught, both processed through the yellow card system and added to disc.
- A well-known male was escorted to his bus and advised to leave town due to the people he had annoyed by saying inappropriate things to them. This incident has been passed to the police.
- 25th Checked on a report of a male being rude to staff in a store, the person was identified by camera, police informed as this person has previously been picked up by police for the same type of intimidation to staff. The store staff were advised to ring 101 and report it soonest.
- Called to remove two drunks from one of the pubs in town, both had left prior to the arrival of the CPO, the public had persuaded the males to leave.
- Broke up a fight in a shopping centre, two groups were separated, the young female who had been picked on was advised to ring 101 due to the assault on her and the reasons for the assault. She left with friends.
- 26th Checked a CCTV camera from a store regarding a shoplift earlier, the individual was known. This has now been passed onto police via 101 system.
- A known person who has a city ban has breached due to him being in town very drunk and abusive. Police CCTV made aware and will monitor him.
- Meeting with the Deputy Police and crime commissionaire and Steve Lindsay.
- Informal meeting with the main Council leaders regarding the Retro car day preparations.
- 27thLarge group of drugs taking individuals have been removed from a city centre location.
- Several cases of shoplifting dealt with by the CPOs and store staff, all details have been added to disc.
- Located and assisted in the arrest of a wanted individual.
- 28th Called to assist with stopping an argument between a street drinker and a motorist, it seems the car was driving behind a street drinker and he did not like it. This was stopped and both parties continued their own way.
- Assisted the council with marshalling vehicles in and around the city centre for Retro day.
- Several street beggars removed from the centre due to aggressive begging and spoiling the Retro Day.
- Assisted stores with shoplifters, goods retrieved and returned.
- 29th Patrolled the city areas, engaged with street drinkers and rough sleepers, also members of the public.
- Collated and put together large amounts of information required for individuals which was passed over to the correct agencies. Breaches of Injunctions and CBOs.
- 30th Called to remove a persistent beggar from the Transport Hub, this individual had been spoken to many times, all information has been added to disc also to police.
- Several well-known individuals were seen hanging around the main stores in the city, the stores were made aware of the people outside, and these were monitored by CCTV and CPOs.
- Stepped in and broke up a disagreement between a large group of people. They were all spoken to and removed from the area.
- 31st A young female was spotted on the roof of a car park; this female is known and was engaged with by the CPOs until the Police response team arrived. They took over the incident and managed to get the girl to safety.
