Highlights for the Month
- 1st– Several welfare issues during the day, a semi-conscious drunk male who was needing first aid after falling over and required removing from the area he was in due to the heat. The other was an elderly male who needed assistance to get home.
- Called to assist with a known shoplifter who was drunk and had stolen items from several stores. All goods returned to correct stores and all details added to DISC.
- 2nd– Called to assist with the identification of shoplifters, both named, and all details added to the DISCI system.
- Welfare incident to deal with an unconscious male needed to be awakened from a drunken sleep as he was in the sun, water and assistance given to get him home.
- Called to assist with the removal of a very drunk male who was harassing and being abusive to customers, this person was moved on and went on his way. CCTV monitored this person out of the city. Â Â
- 3rd– Called to assist with several shoplifters both caught, and goods retrieved, all details have been added to DISC, one was unknown and passed to CCTV to monitor.
- Called to identify a male who had become very aggressive because he was asked to wait in line with others before entering the store. This individual was added to DISC as an ID sought.
- Assisted in the arrest of a well-known shoplifter who was seeking to evade capture from police.
- 4th– Assisted a City Safe store in the collection of evidence regarding a well-known shoplifter.
- Attended a city safe store to assist their staff with the removal of an individual who had been refused service, they were banned from the store because of previous incidents of stealing.
- 5th– Assisted to resolve a dispute between a local trader and a building company.
- Attended a first aid situation in Grey Friars, called the ambulance and administered first aid until paramedics arrived.
- Called to attend a City Safe store where there was a family verbally abusing a member of staff, shouting racist abuse and spitting. CCTV alerted and group disappeared.
- 6th– Meeting with a social worker in charge of housing all homeless individuals, briefed on who was where and welfare issues to look out for.
- Called to Identify an individual who was in a wheelchair attempting to steal wine from a City Safe store.
- 7th– Assisted in the arrest of two males who were involved in drug taking and driving off when approached by police.
- Remove a large group of street drinkers from public areas, creating a lot of noise and mess. Assisting one male who was very drunk and could not get up.
- Lookout for reported welfare cases from Police.
- 8th– Called to attend a City Safe store who had been the victim of shoplifting, confirmed identity of the offender, the store will 101 and add all details to DISC.
- Passed on a male to CCTV who was walking through town but shouting abusive comments and being aggressive. This individual is known and passed over to CCTV to monitor.
- 9th– CPOs assisted in the location of an individual who was considered missing and a welfare check was required with partner agencies.
- First aid given to a lady who had fallen over, stayed with the lady until picked up by a relative.
- Attended City Safe stores who had shoplifting offenders inside store, one was reported with all details added to DISC, the other male was arrested by police for repeat offences.
- 10th– Attended a first aid incident, a male had problems walking a walked into a van where he banged his head. He was checked over but refused an ambulance. He was monitored by Police CCTV.
- Spoke with a group of street drinkers and moved them from a public place due to the public space protection order (PSPO).
- 11th– Spoke with a few street drinkers and asked them to move to another location, no further issues.
- Two individuals were reminded of their civil injunctions against them, also reported for breaching this injunction.
- Removed a well-known offender from a City Safe store as he was on an exclusion list, reported as a breach of this ban.
- 12th– Attended report of two young male selling fragrance with no peddler’s licence, advised them to stop and leave town but they refused. Left when the police were called. Received a few threats from both, all passed to police and CCTV to monitor them.
- Put out a bin fire, possibly started from a cigarette, no further issues.
- 13th– Three young males selling fragrance in the city without a licence, they were advised to leave, police were called but the males moved off. CCTV Monitored them to a carpark and vehicle.
- Two individuals reported for a breach of civil injunction, all information passed onto the police.
- Supported the police ensuring a peaceful protest in Gloucester park. No issues.
- 14th– Reported fly tipping in a central location to the correct agencies.
- Located and reported a person who was putting their life in danger, sealed off an area and waited for the police to arrive and take over this incident.
- Called to identify a shoplifter for a City Safe store, all details were added to DISC.
- 15th– Three female shoplifters were caught in a City Safe store, all items recovered but due to the present climate with Covid-19 nothing else could be done. CCTV footage taken and the women removed from store and passed over to CCTV. They went to the car park and left the area.
- Called to speak to a male who had been urinating in a shop doorway, in full view to members of staff. This incident was reported to the police CCTV and 101.
- 16th– Called to identify a group of males who had stolen a large amount of fish from storage. All names were reported to the police.
- Attended a call to assist with a City Safe store who had a male being very aggressive to staff all because he was asked to wait until someone had come out of store. All details taken and the male spoken with.
- Monitored a group of three (two males and one female) who customers accused of stealing; checked the store CCTV but no confirmation. Passed around all stores and police CCTV to monitor.
- 17th– Removal of street drinkers from the centre of the city, reminded them of the PSPO in place, had to remove one person’s drink after refusal to put it away.
- Called to assist a City Safe store with a person caught stealing, all details added to the DISC system.
- 18th– Reported and assisted with the arrest of a wanted offender for shoplifting.
- Called to check and identify a shoplifter and passed all information on as this was relevant to an ongoing investigation.
- 19th– Called to assist with three cases of shoplifting, one led to an immediate arrest by police for violence against a security officer, the other two cases were dealt with in store. All details have been added to the DISC system.
- Carried out a welfare check with a homeless person and after working with our partners we all managed to get this individual housed to a place of safety.
- 20th– Called to a report of an aggressive female arguing with the staff of a City Safe store. Spoke to both parties and followed up.
- Called to speak with a young male being abusive after being asked to stop kicking a football around Northgate Street. Complained, however moved on when requested.
- 21st– Called to assist with a person sitting on the ledge of Eastgate car park. Security officers and police managed to talk a female down.
- Monitored a lot of known people around the city during the day, deterring them from stealing.
- 22nd Reacted to calls to remind various City Safe stores about leaving the rubbish bags out on the street overnight, the gulls rip the, open and the cleaners are having to spend a lot of extra time cleaning it up.
- Carried out welfare calls to individuals from outside of town who required information and advice for agencies to help them.
- 23rd Called to assist during a theft from a City Safe store, checked CCTV from the store and collected information. Thus was passed to the police and all the culprits were arrested after carrying out further thefts in Stroud. Organised Crime Group.
- Called to remove a male from a phone store who was being very aggressive to staff. This male was advised the correct way to sort out his issues and he left.
- Assisted in the calming down and removal of a large group of youths who were arguing outside a City Safe store, blocking the entrance to the people queuing up.
- 24th Called to assist a member of staff being subjected to a torrid of abuse from a very aggressive male, this male has been identified and all information has been passed to police.
- Requested several times to assist stores in the removal of a large group of teenage males and females who were bored can causing low level ASB. After explaining things to them they left stores to roam the city streets. These groups were also involved in several fights, police were called to each one.
- 25th Attended three separate cases of individuals being aggressive towards store staff.
- Called to attend to an individual who had fallen asleep in a bank and staff could not wake him up, an ambulance was called as the individual had taken tablets prescribed to someone else.
- Called to a City Safe store as a shoplifter had stolen a lot of electrical equipment. The shoplifter was identified, and all details added to DISC.
- At the request of the City Council checked around the park as loud music and drinking was disturbing some of the residents. CPOs spoke to several people and were warned and advised about the PSPO in place however most tidied up others ignored any requests. Police were advised.
- 26th Removed several drunk individuals from stores and from sleeping outside working stores.
- Moved on several groups of youths who were annoying the public with their electric scooters.
- 27th Groups of teenagers on scooters being anti-social in town, large groups sitting around everywhere being very vocal.
- Shoplifter reported in a City Safe store, identification was unknown, but added to DISC as an ID Sought.
- 28th Called to assist stores after three separate thefts, all goods for two of the thefts recovered, one person managed to get away with items, all persons identified, and all details added to DISC.
- Called by security staff to sort out an incident between two groups of youths who were bullying each other, both advised about the situation and sent on separate ways.
- 29th Removed an individual who keeps breaking his civil injunction by begging in town, this person was very rude and aggressive. Body worn video and details logged and reported to correct agencies.
- Two cases of shoplifting dealt with by the same person. This individual has been excluded by all stores; all information added to DISC.
- Called to attend the bottom of Westgate street to a large group of young teenagers, both male and females causing anti -social behaviour. Due to their refusal to move on police were called to disperse the group.
- 30th called to identify a male shoplifter, remains unknown but added to DISC as an ID sought.
- Called to help deal with an aggressive male who refused to leave a City premises, after sorting out the immediate problem this male left. Male tried to return and continue the argument, but CPOs called the police who took over the incident.
