Highlights for the Month
- 1st– The two teams were working today, the Barton and Tredworth patrol and the city safe patrol. The Barton team were out visiting all the stores in the area to check if they had all necessary equipment, if they needed any advice and guidance.
- Also, during the day, they visited some of the areas where the street drinkers frequent and engaged with them, helping with some of the welfare issues they had.
- The city safe team had been dealing with several incidents of shop lifting where some of the shop staff were faced with aggressive individuals.
- Removal of street beggars who were becoming aggressive with their behaviour towards public.
- 2nd– Several cases of shoplifting carried out in the city. All offenders were identified, and all details have been added to Disc and reported directly to police.
- Called to assist with a welfare incident, an individual who had walked out of Wotton Lawn ended up at the Cathedral, the ushers then walked him to Bearlands where he was given a lift home.
- Called to remove the group of street drinkers who were being very vocal and loud from the St Johns Lane area. They were asked to move to another area due to people working in the area they were hanging around. We were called back immediately as a very loud argument had started. This was broken up and both parties dispersed.
- 3rd– Two teams were on today, the Barton and Tredworth team also took a patrol around the Kingsholm area including London Road. During the patrol, several stores and cafes were visited, and groups of street drinker were engaged to check on welfare and health.
- The city team patrolled the city areas and checking on confirming contact numbers and managers for City safe stores.
- 4th– Three case of shoplifting dealt with, two of the offenders were picked up by police and all information was added to disc.
- A High-risk missing teenager was found and spoken to and consoled until a police team turned up to take over the incident. She was taken with the police to a place of safety.
- We were informed of two of the main people causing daily issues, have now been arrested for offences and will be on remand for a while.
- 5th– First aid incident, a male had collapsed outside of Lloyds bank, after bringing him around he explained he had had a reaction to having a vaccine jab. He said he was ok, but we arranged a taxi for him to get home, with advice to speak with his GP.
- CCTV gave observations for a young female who had gone missing. If she was seen, then police needed to speak with her.
- Found a drunk male fast asleep in St Mary Decrypt, he was not one of the usual drinkers so woke him up to check his welfare. He had lost a close mate the day before, so he went drinking, he was sober enough to get himself home. CCTV informed and monitored him out of town.
- 6th– CCTV observations for a few missing persons to look out for during the day, all local areas checked several times during the day.
- Several street drinkers who are causing issues in different public houses around the town, when confronted about their behaviour they got aggressive, but left after arranging to be picked up.
- 7th– Sorted out a big issue seller having a tantrum as he wanted to move areas, but someone was there already. Spoke with the Big Issue manager about the situation and he confirmed all that was said by CPOs was correct.
- Removed two street beggars from public areas as their style of aggressive begging was annoying the public in those areas, the public were complaining about them to CPOs.
- Called into a city safe store to check on the store CCTV to identify a shoplifter from earlier that day.
- 8th– The team attended a Street Aware meeting Via Zoom regarding anti-social behaviour in the city.
- Located and detained a wanted person for the police to pick up.
- Called to assist a store who had four people arguing in store. This was a domestic argument; all was calmed down and the individuals all left the store. CCTV informed to monitor them.
- 9th– Collection of information regarding an individual who is causing issues for businesses on Southgate Street, statements and impact letters from store managers obtained.
- Removed a street drinker from a pub area as he was causing issues with the manager and members of the public. Police have been called to this person.
- Missing high risk female reported missing, all areas were checked, no immediate sightings of her.
- Assisted with a shoplifter, information given to police regarding vehicles, all goods returned, and all information was added to disc,
- 10th– The two teams were out today, the area of Kingsholm was patrolled in the morning, several tasks completed for city safe, and stores visited. There were a few street drinkers around, but these were moved from the public areas which are causing concerns for the public.
- The afternoon was the turn of Barton Street and Tredworth High Street, stores were visited, and staff and customers engaged with, reminded a few stores about wearing of masks but most still compliant.
- The city team had been dealing with a domestic argument that was getting physical, but CPOs broke them up and separated them. The female was monitored BY CCTV due to safety concerns.
- A fight was stopped on the main Northgate Street, the two males were spoken to and made to go separate ways. No further issue.
- 11th– Called to intervene with an altercation between two known individuals, police were called and both parties separated. One of the males was then arrested for a previous incident.
- Called to assist a store member who was being abused verbally by a member of public, this was over mask wearing. The person shouting abuse was removed from the area.
- 12th– Concerns relayed to police regarding one of our known individuals in Gloucester, not taking his medication and not washing, this has been noticed before and has led to trouble. His carer was called, and he went with them for the day.
- One of the street beggars was removed from the area as he was being overly aggressive to people refusing to give him money and cigarettes.
- Welfare incident where an older male required medical assistance, first aid given, and an ambulance called.
- 13th– Removed several street drinkers from the St Mary Decrypt area, this was after complaints about alcohol and too much noise from people working and living in this area.
- Welfare check carried out on a male who was unconscious in Cross keys lane. The male is well known to CPOs and has a history of drinking with his medication that makes him sleep. He was woken up and moved on, no further issues.
- Drunk male refusing to leave a public house, on speaking with him he finally left when a taxi was called for him.
- 14th– Called to identify a picture of a male who has been stealing from a store in Quedgeley but is becoming aggressive with any staff who go near him. Information passed onto the police.
- Welfare incident to aid a homeless individual, arrange an interview with all necessary agencies.
- During the day removed street beggars who were camping up next to ATM machines.
- Assisted a store with a shoplifter and assisted the individual with some assistance to speak with someone to get some help. All shoplifting information has been added to disc.
- Young missing teenager found safe and secure; all information passed to CCTV.
- 15th– Two teams are working today, the one team covered Quay’s area and visited all the city safe stores and engaged with the staff and customers.
- Welfare incident due to a male who was having issues and was stopped from going into the docks area, police informed and took over the incident.
- A well-known female was sighted and passed on to CCTV to monitor, she left the town area shortly afterwards.
- The second team covered Kingsholm area visiting all areas, spoke with the street drinkers on London Road and got them to move from the public areas. In the afternoon they covered the Barton and Tredworth areas, there they engaged with store staff and customers.
- 16th– Called to sort out an argument with a big issue seller who was shouting about where he was allowed to sell. Communicated with the Big Issue manager who spoke to the seller over the phone.
- Welfare check carried out with one of the street drinkers, who had fallen asleep in a public area, this was causing some distress to the public. He moved on once he was woken up.
- Call to attend a serious altercation at a public building, a male was refusing to leave and was threatening staff. CPOs upon arrival moved everyone away from the area and managed to calm the male down. The male was then escorted out of the building. All information and images were passed to the police.
- 17th The city safe team started the day with removing a street drinker from a private garden where there were young children playing.
- Spoke with a male who was fighting with a road sign on Station Road, after explaining they were on private property and he could be held liable for any damage, he walked off.
- Called to assist with a shoplifter in one of the city safe stores. The female was processed through the Disc system. But was also offered some numbers for people who could help her as she was experiencing some mental health issues.
- Called to help with a very aggressive male in a store, he took being told not to do something very badly, after it was explained to him, he collected his order and left. All information was added to Disc.
- The second team on today visited the Kingsholm and visited stores and businesses in the area. They moved on a large group of street drinkers from a public area. After lunch they visited the Barton and Tredworth area, called to assist a member of public who had stopped a male who was trying to cut down all the Covid information boards with a Stanley knife. This male had driven off by the time CPOs arrived. All boards were replaced.
- The team continued to visit stores to see if they required any assistance with anything, and to communicate with the staff and customers.
- 18th– Called to assist with a large group of people demonstrating against a store which requires customers to wear a mask, these people were removed from the store and spoken to by the CPOs,
- Received a call to move on certain buskers as they were creating a lot of noise and had overstayed their welcome, upsetting businesses and the public.
- Shop lifters stopped and goods returned to the store, their names were added to the disc system.
- Called to assist an individual who was causing a disturbance inside setting of door alarms and being a nuisance, he was removed from this area, he was passed onto CCTV to monitor as he was threatening all sorts of trouble.
- 19th–. One of the street drinkers who has a city centre ban was found fast asleep on the steps to the docks. He was woken up and advised to remove himself from the centre area, he was added to disc for the breach of his injunction.
- Another drunk was removed from sleeping next to a busy bus stop. His drink was removed from him as he did not heed the warnings given to him.
- Street beggars removed from prominent public areas due to the aggressive techniques being used against members of the public.
- A Large group were reminded about covid rules and the noise levels, they were in the Cathedral grounds, people were complaining about them.
- 20th– Welfare checks made with a couple of rough sleepers in one of the carparks, made sure they were ok and had access to agencies that could help them should they require it.
- Group of four traveller males were back in town selling fake fragrance cheap to the public, they were passed onto the police CCTV to monitor. CPOs spoke with them and explained they needed a peddler licence to sell on the street, none of them had one, so they were asked to leave the area. Police monitored them.
- Street drinkers were removed from the graveyard at St Mary Decrypt. High noise levels, with abusive language used and alcohol on full view.
- A car left with an open window was reported as it was dumped in a bay by the Transport Hub, for safety reasons it needed to be checked. Police did the checking, and it was left.
- 21st– Couple of shoplifters deterred from stealing from city safe stores.
- Two shoplifters detained after escaping from a store and entering another store to dispose of stolen items, both were arrested by police, investigation into this store ongoing.
- Street drinkers were removed from St Mary decrypt graveyard, alcohol on view and swearing loudly.
- 22nd The Barton and Tredworth team visited all stores in both areas, offering advice, and equipment reference the Covid 19 regulations. Also spent time engaging with members of the public.
- They also spotted a street drinker who was in breach of a section 35 notice to leave the area for a 48-hour period as he was causing issues with his drinking and attitude.
- The city safe team patrolled all city safe stores and bid areas, engaging with shop staff and members of the public.
- Called to assist with a female who had complained about a male in a wheelchair who had been inappropriate towards her, when confronted by CPOs the male apologised. The female did not want to take it further. The males name was recorded for the future.
- 23rd Two counts of criminal damage reported to CCTV, who then reviewed their CCTV footage and found the individual doing the damage. Police to follow up.
- Handed out leaflets regarding Covid 19 vaccinations during the weekend.
- Welfare checks made on a male who was threatening self-harm. All details passed onto the police, this individual is well known and has made similar threats previously.
- 24th Called to assist a store with a handbag left in the doorway. This was taken to Bearlands, later the owner picked it up.
- Broke up an argument between two females in Kingswalk carpark. It turned out that they were sisters and was over money. The police turned up and took over the incident.
- Removed a large group of street drinkers from a prominent public location.
- 25th Spent time putting together an evidence file for one of the street people who has been causing issues on Southgate Street.
- Called to remove a group of street drinkers from a public area.
- A Missing female was put out by CCTV for all to look for, this lady was found safe and reunited with her family.
- Teenagers removed after causing ASB in a takeaway.
- 26th Called to attend to a homeless person who had been causing issues in a city safe store making the staff feel uncomfortable. This person was spoken to and added to disc.
- Called to assist a store with a shoplifter who had been detained, all the goods returned, and all details added to disc.
- A male was causing a major issue with a store, becoming rude to staff and being aggressive, he was removed by the store owner and staff.
- 27th Drinkers were removed from a public area as they were blocking the passage of customers to a store.
- Identified a shoplifter for a city safe store.
- 28th Collect some belongings that a shoplifter had dropped when he was stopped by staff for stealing, these were handed into the police at Bearlands reception.
- Shoplifters were deterred in several stores throughout the day.
- Report from CCTV regarding a missing lady from GRH, very ill and needed to be found as soon as possible, CPOs checked all routes from GRH, the female was found and picked up by police.
- 29th Information was given to the CPOs regarding a drug dealing area and a possible flat take over, this was passed to police.
- Welfare incident dealt with, a male was having some serious problems with home life, police attended and took over the incident.
- Two fights broken up both involving street people who were arguing over issues caused with drink and drugs. Both were broken up quickly and dispersed.
- 30th Spoke with and advised a young male who had his bike stolen, Police were informed via CCTV and the male called 101.
- Concerns were raised by a member of the public and passed by the CPO to police regarding a Busker with a young baby with him. Police are sorting out this incident.
- A well-known shoplifter monitored around the city and deterred from entering any store in the city.
