Residents are invited to a free event at Horsbere Brook in Barnwood on Monday 15th August.

The meadow at Horsbere will be restored thanks to special seed planting events which are taking place over the summer.

The next session, which is free to attend, takes place from 10am to 12noon on Monday 15th August.

Local people, families and friends are all invited to meet by the gate on Barnwood Link Road, GL4 3HR, or find the group on the mound which is to the left as you enter the reserve.

People are asked to bring a pencil or hand fork to aid their seed planting.

The seeds have been collected by volunteers at Hucclecote Meadows.

Lloyd Griffiths, head of neighbourhood services at Gloucester City Council said, “This is the second seed planting session in Barnwood as part of our work for the Horsbere Brook Flood Alleviation Scheme.

“The scheme not only aims to reduce the flood risk in the area, but it also works to improve the local environment too, and this planting allows us to harvest a greater variety of seeds.”
