On Thursday 18th August between 2:00pm-8:00pm local residents and businesses, road users and the wider public are invited to a ‘meet the contractor’ event for the improvements to Elmbridge roundabout.

Gloucestershire County Council is starting improvement work on Elmbridge roundabout on 22nd August, but before the first spade hits the ground a ‘meet the contractor’ event will happen on the 18th August.

The event will be held at Gloucester North Fire Station, in Churchdown and is an opportunity for people to meet the teams that will be on the ground, carrying out the work, for the next 13 months at Elmbridge roundabout.

The roundabout is one of the busiest junctions in the county, the much needed improvements will help relieve congestion and save commuters time. In order to achieve the new look roundabout, some disruption will be caused.

The ‘meet the contractors’ event will allow people to learn more about the project and gain a better understanding of what will be happening throughout the 13 month highways project.

The team who will be at the event available to answer any questions and explain the project in greater detail, include representatives from Gloucestershire County Council, Amey & Alun Griffiths Contractors.

Cllr Vernon Smith, cabinet member for highways said, “If anyone wants to know more about the Elmbridge roundabout scheme, then this event is the perfect opportunity for them to do so. Every team involved will be at there to allow for all aspects to be covered.

“We’re working really closely with our partners on these improvements and we all want to make sure that everyone is up to speed on the project. I’d encourage people to come along if they’re interested in the scheme and want to know more about how it will affect them.”

The first phase of the works, which will last approximately six weeks, will see a 24 hour closure of the inner ring of the roundabout with single lane closures on all approach lanes, therefore motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
