Farmhouse to make way for affordable homes by | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/Developers have been given the go-ahead to demolish an old farmhouse and build 17 affordable homes near Gloucester.
Tewkesbury Borough Council has granted permission for Lantar Developments and a housebuilder simply referred to in council documents as Mrs Phillips to build on just under an acre of land in Innsworth.
The proposal includes demolishing the existing buildings to build the new homes at Innsworth House Farm in Innsworth Lane.
The development is a 100% affordable housing estate which will include a mixture of one to three bed semi-detached and terraced houses and flats.
James Griffin, a consultant speaking on behalf of the applicant, called on today’s (August 16) planning committee meeting to approve the proposals.
He thanked council officers for their recommendation to grant permission and told councillors that the scheme will provide wheelchair accessible housing and social rent homes.
“It will deliver 17 much needed affordable homes and an agreement is already in place with an affordable housing provider to deliver this development.
Mr Griffin said the houses would be in keeping with the surrounding area and would provide financial contribution for education.
Councillor Paul Ockelton (LD, Innsworth) said the committee had no choice but to agree with the recommendation for delegate permit.
But he did raise concerns over the access onto the road and asked if there could be discussions to have a bat corridor to keep the animals on the site.
The committee voted unanimously to approve the proposals.
