It’s time to get on board with the Gloucester Gift Card!
The UK gift card market is a £5.6 billion industry which is experiencing double-digit growth year on year. An increasing amount of this money is now being spent online. Miconex are working with towns and cities across the UK to lock this spend back into the High Street for local bricks and mortar business communities. Straightforward to set up and easy to run, the prepaid gift card uses the existing Mastercard network, which means that both national brands and independent businesses can be involved.
The cards can be accepted by businesses of all types; shops, restaurants, cafes, salons, cinemas, galleries and theatres. The giving of a ‘place’ gift card is the ultimate endorsement of your town or city. It encourages advocacy, increases participation and shines a light on everything that place has to offer. The programme is designed to lock in spend for participating businesses, drive footfall, encourage advocacy and stimulate additional economic activity.
How does it work?
Miconex has partnered with Mastercard prepaid programme provider EML www.emlpayments.com to provide a complete local gift card service. The gift card programme we use is a closed-loop, pre-loaded, private label Mastercard programme. This means the entire card is yours to design and brand. The closed-loop element means that the cards can only be spent at registered businesses as appointed by you. Any business that can accept Mastercard (magnetic stripe) cards will be able to accept your gift card. Transactions are treated as debit card payments and businesses incur no additional fees.
