Gloucester BID welcomes new members as second term starts by | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/Gloucester BID has welcomed two new high-profile board members who represent opposite sides of the city.
Jacquie Douglas, Chief Executive of Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust, along with Hugh Joslyn, Director at Gloucester Brewery have now joined the Business Improvement District board and will play a key role in decision-making to support Gloucester businesses.
Gloucester BID announced it was successful in securing a second term last June. The official second term now starts this 1st October with the BID board and team looking forward to delivering on the priorities businesses have asked for.
Gloucester BID is an independent, business-led body which is funded by levy paying businesses in the BID area within Gloucester city centre. It provides vital services for businesses such as patrolling City Protection Officers, along with funding events and projects to make the city more attractive.
The second term lasts for five years and BID is sharply focused on improving the city for businesses and the public. Its funds, which are raised from levy paying businesses, are reinvested in projects that provide long-lasting benefit to businesses. Gloucester BID’s new board members add to the 9 strong BID board which is made up of a variety of business owners who make decisions on behalf of the levy payers in the Gloucester district.
New board member Jacquie Douglas said, ‘I am passionate about Gloucester and what it has to offer for local people and visitors to our city. I am particularly pleased to be joining such a proactive and vibrant board and am really looking forward to helping realise some significant initiatives and infrastructure developments that are scheduled to take place. These are exciting times for our city and I am thrilled to be able to be part of its ongoing growth.’
Hugh Joslyn said, ‘I am delighted to have the opportunity to join the board at Gloucester BID and help the fantastic team to realise the plans set out for the second term. This is a really exciting time for the city with some huge projects in the works, including The Forum project, to University of Gloucester’s new campus, to the Food Dock in the Quays. We are seeing investment throughout the city and as a part of BID I want our whole business community to benefit from these projects and all the other amazing opportunities this city provides.’
Gloucester BID interm manager, Toby Wooldridge, said, ‘Everything we do is aimed at making Gloucester a more desirable place to visit and do business. We will be continuing with our priorities, including making the city safer and more attractive along with Implementing some new ideas and initiatives, as well as getting to know and work with the many other organisations in the city. By working together, we can make a difference and improve the city for everyone.’
