The Board are delighted to announce Emily Gibbon has taken on the full-time role, answering to the BID board. Emily is tasked with supporting Gloucester businesses through the recovery and to continue to deliver the BID’s business plan for 2017-2022.

Emily has most recently been the interim manager of InExeter, Exeter’s BID, helping to steer it and its 750+ member businesses through an unprecedented period of change during the coronavirus pandemic. Emily returns home, having lived in Gloucester since 2011 and having played a key role in various citywide initiatives like the GL Card and having helped set up the BID in 2017.

After assessing the options for the Management of the BID, the Directors awarded the contract to ‘the Four Gates of Gloucester’ – a Social Enterprise not-for-profit company, whose passion for Gloucester matches that of the BID. Their Proposal provided the best value for money and overall appeal, including permanent City Centre offices, management and support. An independent job application process was then followed and a shortlist of candidates interviewed by a panel including both new and existing BID Volunteer Directors, the Chair and representation from Four Gates.

Emily said:

“I’m delighted to be joining Gloucester BID and to be working closely with so many brilliant and passionate business people. Businesses face challenges like they have never seen before presently and it’s crucial we all pull together to support them back to full strength. Collaboration is key.

The BID will play a vital role in helping to do that, and too in celebrating the wonderful, vibrant city of Gloucester and all it has to offer.”

Kieron Bates, chairman of Gloucester BID, said:

“We were delighted with the response to the advertised vacancy and the number of strong candidate applications we received, it made our decision a tricky one.  After careful consideration, Emily’s working knowledge of other BIDs across the country, combined with her passion for, and experience of, Gloucester won through.

The current BID has just under two years to run, and we feel Emily will be able to hit the ground running and represent and champion the help and support our member businesses need through these challenging times for everyone. We would like to extend a big Thank you to Philip Cooke, who has worked hard as our Interim Manager over the past year”
