The incident happened in Paynes Meadow between 11.30am and 2pm.

Unknown offenders forced their way into a house and carried out an untidy search of the rooms before ripping out a wall safe containing diamond, gold and ruby jewellery, documents and around £300 in cash.

Anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or may have been offered any  jewellery from this break-in is urged to call 101 and quote incident 317 of 3 August.

You can also contact the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information cannot be traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
