Pond life! by Kate | Gloucester News Centre - http://gloucesternewscentre.co.uk/Gloucester City Council is inviting all young people to take a dip into the wonders of different ecosystems with a pond safari.
The exciting event will take place on Sunday 28th August between 12.30pm – 2pm at Hucclecote Meadows, a site of specialist scientific interest.
Ranger Felicity Davies hopes to show the young explorers some of the wildlife that lives in the area, including caddisfly larvae, pond snails, beetles, leeches and nymphs.
To explore the wild wetlands young adventurers need to book in advance and be accompanied by an adult. It costs £1 to take part, but is free for accompanying adults.
Lloyd Griffiths, head of neighbourhood services, said: “These sort of events are put on to try and teach young people about their local surroundings and habitats that they may not necessarily realise exist. Don’t forget a pair of wellies!”
On the day, anyone attending should go to Hucclecote Meadows, Lobleys Drive, GL4 5YG, and meet in the first field by the pond.
