With less than four weeks to go until the BIG day, Gloucester BID asks the community to consider supporting local businesses in Gloucester this December.
From hampers, jewellery and jumpers, to best sellers, crystals and gig tickets, Gloucester has a rich offering of wonderful and thoughtful gifts for family and friends. Plus, activities for all to enjoy, including outdoor ice skating, weekly winter markets, advent celebrations and several appearances from the special man himself, as well as a plethora of fabulous eateries to rest your weary feet during your visit.
You will also be able to see 12 Runaway Reindeers hiding across the city. This colourful, Christmas arts trail is a brilliant free activity for families, and features twelve different, 6ft tall reindeer, all customised by brilliant local artists, scattered across the city. Find them all and be in with a chance to win one of five £100 Gloucester Gift Cards!
Now boasting over 95 businesses signed up to the programme, the Gloucester Gift Card is a popular choice to support local businesses and enhance the local economy.
Emily Gibbon, Gloucester BID Manager says “This year we are very excited to see Gloucester come alive with the joy of Christmas. With plenty to do and see, Gloucester is a perfect place to come for visitors of all ages. Our Shop Gloucester campaign, aims to support our diverse collection of superb independent and larger businesses across our city, to ensure our high street stays alive and vibrant all year round for all to enjoy.”
Gloucester City Council is helping to encourage shoppers to support local and independent retailers further in the run up to Christmas by offering free parking after 3pm on Thursdays to enjoy late night shopping through the city centre. This will apply to the Eastgate Shopping Centre and Kings Walk Shopping Centre car parks which have over 600 spaces between them.
Also, to celebrate Small Business Saturday and to back Gloucester’s wealth of independent businesses, three car parks will be free all day on Saturday, 2 December – Westgate Street, Station Road and Hare Lane North Car Park.
You can expect a warm welcome and all the feels of the festive season here in Gloucester. Come and see for yourself!
