After previous visits to Gloucester city centre earlier this year, the Continental Street Market is heading back to Gloucester next week from Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st October, hoping to bring with it a continental atmosphere during the half term holidays.

Traders selling products from around the world will be on hand to display the best products that their respective countries have to offer. The market will have a wide array of products on offer, from unusual craft items to food traders offering the best hot and cold produce from their native countries.

The market is operated by RR Events, an Event Management company specialising in special event and themed markets. These themed markets would normally travel the length and breadth of the UK as part of the yearly tour schedule. As with many walks of life these plans have been severely impacted by the Covid pandemic, but are once again running in town and city centres and helping to attract footfall back in a responsible manner. The markets takes place outdoors and so can be enjoyed safely, with a number of Social Distancing procedures in place.

RR Events Managing Director Tony Walsh said: “We are thankful to the people and visitors to Gloucester that helped to make our previous visits such a success. It’s been a real pleasure working with the City Council organising these markets and we hope to continually grow the quality and offering every time. We understand it’s been such a tough year for so many people and we hope we can play a small part in attracting people back into the city centre in a safe manner.”

Cllr Dawn Melvin, Cabinet Member for Economic Recovery and Growth at Gloucester City Council, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the Continental Street Market, another great opportunity for people to come into Gloucester and support businesses after a really difficult few months. The city is such a vibrant place, and this market will be a fantastic addition to what Gloucester has to offer. We are also pleased to confirm that on Friday the wonderful Farmers Market will be there too.”

From Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st October around 25 traders will be present selling the best of the continent’s gastronomic delights and craft items. The food on offer will range from cakes and pastries for those with a sweet tooth, flavoured cheeses and olives for those who prefer savoury treats, as well as a host of hot food offerings such as Greek Gyros, Spanish Paella and Pad Thai. Don’t forget an array of craft options and ideal early Xmas presents such as authentic Turkish lamps and Moroccan ceramics.
