Here is an update from County Council Highways regarding the implementation date for the highway repair and resurfacing work on Westgate Street this month.

Cathedral Quarter – Streetscape Repairs & Enhancements – Westgate Street – Gloucester City Centre

What: Westgate junction improvements – Relaying of current blocks and surfacing of Westgate Street with College Street
Where: Westgate Street junction – Gloucester City Centre
When: 11th to 19th March returning 22nd March & 9th April

In collaboration with Gloucester City Council, Historic England and on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, we will shortly be conducting improvements at the above location. Please see the map overleaf showing the extent of the scheme.

To ensure the safety of pedestrians, road users and our workforce, highways will need to be closed while we work on them. We will accommodate pedestrian access in and out of properties and apologise for any disruption.

Please note that parking on Westgate Street (as marked on the map overleaf) will be prohibited 24/7 during the works. There will be two evening shifts between be 18:00-00:00 on 11th and 12th March. There will be no vehicular access into the cathedral during these times. This will be followed by five-day shifts between 13th March to the 19th March, where access to the cathedral will be maintained for LGVs. Unfortunately we cannot accommodate access for HGVs for safety reasons. The diversion route (as seen overleaf) will be officially signposted when in use.

We will be returning to site for the evening of 22nd March between 18:00 and 00:00 during which there will be no vehicular access into the cathedral. Finally, on the 9th April we will be working between 18:00-00:00 for the laying of anti-skid material as the final stage of the safety improvement works.

During these times, please park on driveways or on side roads. We will make every effort to contact the owners of any vehicles left parked on the road, but if unsuccessful, we may have to arrange for them to be removed to a secure area until collected by owners.

Polite note, please don’t attempt to walk or drive on any wet surface (freshly laid materials) as it may mark your shoes.

Thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation. If you have any queries, please call us on 08000
514514.
