Wilko’s Gloucester store has traded for the final time.

The shop in Northgate Street has closed after serving customers for the last 26 years.

Shoppers have been making their final purchases with staff cleaning the empty aisles.

Wilko was put in administration last month after financial pressures from weak consumer spending and debts to suppliers.

The Gloucester store originally had over 140 employees when it first opened but has reduced over the years to less than 30.

Wilko was originally founded by James Kemsey Wilkinson in Leicester in 1930 and employed 12,500 workers before its collapse.
