SAFER CITY
WE ALL WANT A CITY THAT IS NOT ONLY SAFER BUT FEELS SAFER FOR ALL THOSE WHO WORK, STUDY, VISIT AND SHOP THERE.
A SAFE & SECURE CITY WITH THE CPOs
With joint funding from Gloucester City Council and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, Gloucester Business Improvement District has enhanced the safety of the city centre by introducing award-winning City Protection Officers (CPOs).
The visible team of CPOs patrol the city centre, 7 days a week. CPOs have been part of the city since the 2017 and their high-visibility and close working with Gloucestershire Police and the PSCOs, enhances the feeling of a safer place in Gloucester. BID members can contact the CPOs directly or by the Gloucester City Safe radios.
Gloucester BID funds the management of the CPOs through Gloucester City Safe. Gloucester City Safe manager, Steve Lindsay, coordinates and provides monthly reports on the activity of the team to partners. All accessible on this website.

CITY SAFE SCHEME
Gloucester City Safe is a not for profit Business Crime Reduction Partnership and was set up with initial funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner.
The idea of the scheme is for local businesses involved in the day and night time economies in Gloucester to work together to reduce crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour which affects those businesses, their staff and customers.
The scheme started on 1st May 2014 and the membership has grown significantly as word has spread about the benefits of being part of City Safe. Gloucester BID will be looking to support and extend the benefits of the City Safe scheme.
PURPLE FLAG STATUS
Purple Flag is an accreditation process similar to the Green Flag award for parks and the Blue Flag for beaches. It leads to Purple Flag status for town & city centres that meet or surpass the standards of excellence in managing the evening and night time economyÂ
Gloucester BID is part of the steering group, led by Gloucester City Council, that has succeeded in getting Purple Flag status for Gloucester.
This is due for renewal in 2024 and we will work with others to keep this status for Gloucester, to show that we have a safe and vibrant evening and night time economy.
