DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Sing-Along-A-Christmas Carol event at the historic Blackfriars Priory\, (off Ladybellegate Street) Gloucester on Wednesday 6th December; 7.15pm until 9.30pm. Doors open at 6.45pm to enjoy a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie which are included in the ticket price (a suitable drink for the youngsters). Take a chance in our raffle with prizes kindly donated by our clients and Gloucestershire based businesses. Then join-in with all your favourite Christmas Carols and other Christmas songs with music provided by the Flowers Brass Band\, the West of England’s highest ranked brass band. \nAll proceeds from the event will be donated to local charity\, Young Gloucestershire (YG). YG supports young people to have the confidence\, motivation and skills to improve their lives. \nChristmas isn’t always a magical time for young people. Vulnerable young people are stuck at home facing domestic violence\, exploitation\, and poor family life. This Christmas\, come together as a business community to support these young people by raising money. Last year\, our event raised over £2000 for Young Gloucestershire. \nNB. Owing to the age of the building\, despite being indoors we advise that attendees wear warm clothes and perhaps bring a rug or blanket.

Have your imaginations at the ready as our story unfolds and we see Nora’s world grow around her. \nFollowing sold out\, highly acclaimed tours\, Flock Theatre Makers will be bringing their musical-theatre adaptation of Lizzy Stewart’s award-winning children’s book ‘There’s a Tiger in the Garden’ to Blackfriars Priory this Autumn. \nUsing puppetry\, imaginative design and music – audiences are invited to join Nora as she discovers dragonflies as big as her head\, plants that can eat you (and your toy giraffe) whole\, a polar bear that likes fishing and maybe\, just maybe\, a tiger in the garden. Exploring the power of the imagination\, we invite families to follow Nora as she discovers the wonders hidden beyond the shrubbery. Come and enjoy the brilliance of this story brought to life. \nWorking closely with the author\, this much loved book has been turned into a theatre piece which promises fun for all the family. \nThe café will be open before the show for snacks and drinks. Only food and drink purchased on the premises may be consumed onsite. \nThe show will last approximately 45 minutes\, with 15 minutes at the end for children to meet the puppets. The show timings are 11am and 2:30pm. \nAll tickets £12.50.

DESCRIPTION:Ensemble Sine Nomine and friends present a choral and instrumental concert\, based on music that Richard III might have heard. The stunning medieval setting of Blackfriars Abbey will provide the backdrop for a thrilling journey back in time to the 15th Century\, where the musicians will offer some suggestions of music that King Richard III might have heard.\n\nNarrated by Mayor of Gloucester Chris Chatterton\, the concert will intersperse episodes from King Richard’s life with musical examples from Ensemble Sine Nomine\, a group of six singers who specialise in early and medieval music\, and IatB Ensemble\, a mixed wind and brass ensemble from the local area. The music will range from a medieval fanfare to beautiful two and three part choral works by Dunstable and Plummer\, and will feature anonymous medieval carols and rounds\, including ‘Sumer is Icumen in’\, the earliest known polyphonic choral work in English.
